My up coming outdoor grow
All i can get my grubby little fingers on is some 'bagseed', although it's REALLY good.
I have access to chicken and pheasent manure, I figured i will dig some nice hole's about knee deep 1 foot across for each plant. In my hole i'll mix bought soil x 1/3 surrounding top soil x 1/3 and a shovel full of manure (it' all mixed with straw too) mix up real good pat it down slightly then sprinkle loosley some of the bought soil about an inch or so then place my popped seed with taproot facing up, cover and lightly water. I'll go back after month and see what happens.....any tips or suggestions? Maybe top or not? I havent bought ferts in like 6 years but i had excellent results to say the least with Fox Farms....any other ferts you guys recomend for an outdoor grow? Im looking for something 100% Organic. thank you. ![]() I love this time of year.

you sound on your way to a good grow
it can be a good idea to line the sides of the holes with strong plastic, this will keep neighbouring weeds from sending their horizontal roots into you primo soil also, the manure could be a little hot, depending on how fresh it is it's good that it's mixed with straw i'd probably be digging the holes and adding your 'shit', water it as well as you can, fill the holes, let it drain away, fill again, if possible then come back, add your couple of inches of topsoil + seed a week, or more, later you could just plant the seed, plant the popped seed, or plant seedlings...options they have a better chance of survival if they are a foot high if you're planting popped seed you want the taproot facing down sprinkle some snails pellet area the area that's about all

do you mean that black plastic you put around landscaping? or a heavy plastic garbage bag with the bottom cut out? i know what you mean about digging adding and coming back later. at least for me if I dug a hole and planted either a seed or nice seedling i always came back to a 2 ft deep hole! coyotes , skunks coons and whatever else gets'em. thats why im preparing my area within the next week and hopefully to plant in 3 weeks. that manure is really dry i just rake it up of the ground, yea i wouldnt put wet manure in the it would probably start smoldering in a few days...lolI have an excellent area that gets full sun from around 9 am to 4-5pm so thats pretty good i think. p.s. about that taproot facing up/down debate. I have an old book from the 70's called "How to grow marijuana indoors under lights" and it says in that book when placing the seed into the hole place the seed with taproot facing up and that will cause the root to turn down creating a much stronger trunk. to each thier own i guess. keep it coming any new methods or tricks im up for a challenge. Thanx

the landscaping plastic is what i was referring to
although the plastic they use for potting mix bags is generally good enough too strong enough to hold it's strength throughout the grow is what you're after some sites are single use, some are used each year so it depends what you're planning

You may want to consider a method for keeping pests away. I am no expert, but a water bottle with dog/human piss in it stuck in the ground so that the smell sticks around may help keep mammals away.
