Ickle Ones - That Time Again

Hi guys, been awhile.

I hope everyone is well and free.

So, moving swiftly on.

Been all sorts happening here but I have finally got round to setting up a new percy grow so here we go again.....

Last time I was around I was battling thrips in the bloom rooms...

So anyway after a good strip down, clean and holiday maybe it's time to pop some seeds and look for some new stock.

So for this thread I'm running only three strains:

- Double White Devon (headstash)
- Hemcy Shiva Shanti (evenings in)
- Maple Leaf Indica (a taste of the old school)

And I have also germ'ed a bunch of Sensi Seeds Indoor Mix seeds for some surprises!

So a few seedling shots....

The Maple Leaf Indica are already showing their Afghany heritage....

The leaf structure of these babies is so thick and strong and they have very very green lower leaf surfaces!

The Shiva as ever show great hybrid vigour, growing fast and strong and not even bothering to show single leaflet leaves as the first set beyond the cotyldon.

There was however one runt in the batch which popped above ground with no cotyldon and as such is taking forever to develop it's first set of leaves.

Nothing is showing any obvious leanings from the SSIM bunch, maybe an afghan or two...

^ Hey guys, thanks .

Looking forward to this one myself.

So, some strain info since I have nothing really to add but am sat here.

Maple Leaf Indica - Sensi Seeds

http://www.sensiseeds.com

Breeders description:

A most interesting Indica strain with a long history brought out of the Afghan mountains just before the Russian invasion. For some, this precious strain will have a whiff of familiarity because it was used as an important building block for some of the most famous varieties of today. It's a compact powerful plant with wide fingered leaves and a very sweet Indica Maple aroma.

A delight for connoisseurs, a taste of the past...

Flowering: 45-50 days. Height: 110-135 cm. Yield: up to 110 gr.

My Comment:

Not grown this one yet so looking forward to it.

Shiva Shanti - Hemcy

http://www.hemcy.com

Breeders description:

This Afghani with its Indica aroma is one of the better yielders in seed collections. Due to its top indoor performance combined with a pleasant taste and high, Shiva Shanti is one of the most popular varieties. This easy to grow, good potency plant does very well under artificial light and in a greenhouse.

WINNER IN THE HIGHLIFE CUP 2003 !

Flowering: 9 - 10 weeks. Height: 1.0 - 1.3 m. Yield: Up to 600 grams.

My Comment: The above description is spot on. Great yield, great potency, lovely smoke. Works great in a SOG, columns of heavy, large bracted, sticky lushness. Works great in organics and equally well on the tables.

Double White Devon

http://www.yahooka.com/forum/growing-good-herb/

Breeders description:

The DWD are beautiful. But a bit of a secret. Basically the final cross in what I hope will become a bit of a local hit. The orginal plan was take two white lines that were lovely smokes but not quite uplifting enough alongside their obvious medicinal qulaities for their beautiful spear like bud formations; add these qualities and stablise them as two mother lines for the Double White resultant cross. About a year ago we thought we had sorted the two mother lines and put the progeny about for some local friends to grow. We got good reports and even a few crosses back (the Triple White being my fave, x'd back to a local Cheese (SK#1 clone) X Super Silver Haze, the White Cheese)! But there were a few problems, a couple of nasty non dominant traits that spring up in maybe 1 in 20 including Dutchification (where they get all hairy but never finish proper). So it's OK as far it goes. Next step will have to wait until we can get somewhere friendly to run the size outdoor grows we need to eek out the remaining problems.

But most of them seem very vigorous, it will be interesting trying to manage and predict how these girls grow and what they need. Mixes are fun!

So we're between 12 and 14 days from germination now for all but the few that were put in late to account for no shows and growth is nice and vigorous.

They have been fed at night once on day 7 with a very dilute solution containing a few drops of both Rhizotonic and Cannazyme (both from CANNA) and have today had their first feed, half strength fish emulsion with a little kelp extract, a liiiitle touch of hydrated lime to balance the ph changes from the fishy skank and a dash of Epsom. This was mixed yesterday and left to sit and bubble for 24 hours with an airstone.... in the fucking shed!

Jesus I had forgotten how much fish emulsion stinks once it's mixed!

Strong secondary development on most of the plants, the Shivas and most from the SSIM particularly, the MLI seem to not be quite so keen to branch up but the foliage is so heavy that I'm not entirely surprised.

The Shiva have taken on a distinctly lime shade in the foliage and have slightly longer internodes than usual so I'll be keeping a particular eye on these. Bah, new space, always some dialling in required.

The MLI are very very consistant with all but one showing incredibly rounded Maple Leaves though this is getting less pronounced as the plants grow. Pretty old school Afghanica though by the looks of.

The SSIM are showing surprisingly little variation at this early stage, their indoor mix doesn't include SH or JH so maybe I've just picked a handful of largely Skunk x Afghani derivatives. Bah, we'll hold judgement til bloom!

The DWD are a week behind the rest so nothing exciting to tell.

Daytime temps have been up to 82 (though for an hour or so they were up in the high 80s as someone who shall remain nameless used the radiator in the GR to dry towels! You know I love ya really girl!) but average out at 79. Minimum night temp is 62 and average is 68.

Attached pics from a few days ago, fresh ones to come later.

MLI leaf....

^ hehe.

So, images that I spoke of...

Top shot (not in GR), note the difference in colouration between the Shiva (top rightish) and the others, also note the difference in leaf profile on the MLI (furthest left row)...
