After much careful deliberatoin.. I have come to conclusion that I will bust the fattest nut evar on December 21, 2012. Something about it being the end of sagitarius, the solstice.. like.. it's all about me and my nutting on that day.

Is there a specific reason the mayan calendar is given such reverence by people in terms of the end times? Yea they were astronomers and were mad smart for their time, but I mean...the Christians were convinced (well some of them) that in 2000 Christ was gonna come down with an army of Angels and pass out some whoopass...Nostradam us and Y2K was going to make nuclear power plants across the world explode....Aliens were making a lot of appearances around Mexico City in the 90's which people were sure was a sign of a coming invasion....

So why the faith in this one? If I understand correctly their calendar just "stops." Wouldn't that imply that the cycle restarts? Why do people assume it means "END." Why not "and back to the beginning"?

I am probably a lot less educated on this than I think. Anyone care to summarize?

idk the general population, once again, is misinformed. many take it as being the "apocalypse", which is wrong. some speculate that it has a correlation with the next world war, which at this point can not be proven or unproven. i'm not pretending like i know alot about 2012, but I dont really know what to believe at this point. the mayans were astronomical geniuses, so we must take that into account.
i'll be really interested as to what happens on 2012.

it is a flipping of the poles, but it started already, and it has happen before yet i think that it has a huge affect on beings...human and otherwise... definiatly not a golden age, actually i believe it to be quite the opposite. a very chaotic, intense time of change. as for the death of the 5th and sixth sun, i do not know, but it sounds interesting.

Cause Christains and Mayans are very different. Mayans are incredibly intelligent(not in the modern age standard) and have made incredibly accurate predictions of astral alignments and such and the other bullshit Christain group fail at everything.
