Well, it makes total sense. Everything that the body performs is triggered by the brain. Or rather is an interaction between the brain, which runs on electrical impulses, and the rest of the body.
They've known for a long time that they could trigger the movement of limbs by sending electrical impulses to certain areas of the brain. Maybe this is sort of similar to how chemicals interact with the body to cause healing, or psychedelic experiences, etc. This is an artificial trigger to a normally natural process. I believe that our bodies/ minds are fully capable of healing themselves. Even more 'sci-fi' esque, I think that our belief in what we are is most of what holds us as such. Physiological psychology is a fascinating field. Who knows, maybe the future of medicine lies in the connection between the two fields (psychology and physiology). ![]()
