Regrets and the Future.
Occasionally I feel the need to re-examine myself; what's going good, what went bad, etc etc. What comes up frequently is Middle school and High school. Except for maybe a two year period of time that was not continuous, i thought they sucked ass. Everyone I talk to looks back them as if they were some great years. What was your opinion of "highschool"
Right now I look at is as My youth is really starting. I have three years of government-paid dicking around, maybe a tour in Iraq to take up one of those years. So all this brings me to 23: Tuition costs not an issue. Do you think It would be hard for me to get into a European University as a sophomore at 23? Is it wrong that I am looking forward to partying my ass of at 23 like a college sophmore when the majority of people of my age are finishing school and getting a job? Or will have I earned my right to do this? I guess i'm so used to looking at how my parents did things. And how I don't want to end up like my sister: 30 years old and starting over.

I hated High School. It was a social nightmare made worse by undiagnosed depression. I did get some sweet trim, however.
As for becoming a student, no university is going to discriminate against you based on being slightly older than their average student. And there are lots of young people who do a stint in the military before going to college. Not unusual at all. ![]() The Rev

Unless you're going to try to get into Oxford, or some other major league European school, why would you attend a university outside of the US?
The case against a foreign degree is further compounded if it’s done in conjunction with some sort of professional accreditation or licensing. I had a small amount of difficulty with this issue when I just moved between states!

Middle and high school eh? My opinion of high school was that it was a fucking joke. Never graduated high school (woo dropping out) and have yet to go on to post secondary, though I'm hoping to in the future when my financial situation's more stable. High school has it's merits, though it also has many shortcomings. For me, the shortcomings far outweighed the merits. I have to say though, my experience of high school was interesting, quite unique, and did open up some doors.

I'm 24 and I'm in college. Many of my classmates are younger than me, but you'd probably be surprised how many older people go back to school. Sometimes I get down about the fact that it took me 5 years (on and off) to get my associates degree. But then I realize that I still got that bitch all the same, and now I'm well on my way to a bachelors and I even plan on going for a masters if I'm not too burnt out by then. If you have someone who is willing to pay your tuition, then I think you should definitely take them up on that offer. Because let me tell you, student loans are a pain in the ass.

I never finished highschool but I've done some time in a joint college/university program. All I had to do was take a competence test to prove I wasn't too dumb to get in. I find that unless you're planning to go to Harvard Law or something, it's not that tough to get in to a decent school.
As far as the regrets and fear of the future...well, you can't change the past and you can't predict the future. You just have to be aware of when you are and are not working toward what it is you want in life. If you're putting effort into getting what you want, things will find a way to align themselves. Having said that, you can't just sit back and expect that life will take care of you. You have to earn what you want so don't feel bad about it no matter how you go about achieving it.

I didn't like high school. I graduated, but just barely. I had a eight year break before I went to college, working and then going into the military. I got my BA with GI Bill money and my MA with student loans.
I don't even like to think what my life would have turned out like if I hadn't gone to college.
