Solar and Lunar Eclipses

I've been doing alot of reading up on eclipses, because I'm fascinated lately by them. As I'm reading, it occurs to me that when Revelations 6:12 says "and the sun became as black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood", it sounds like a description of a total solar eclipse in the case of the sun, and a total lunar eclipse in the case of the moon. Now, it's well known that ancient cultures feared eclipses, and had alot of ideas about how they represented bad omens and such, so it seems natural that those ideas would find their way into the bible.

Just a random thought.

BTW, there's a total eclipse of the Sun in the USA on Aug 21, 2017. Get your seats early.
