Understand?

What is your favorite way to communicate and why? I love the differences in which things can be interpreted.. like writing on the net.. you can read in so many different voice styles.. and conjure up some varied images and thoughts.. it's just amazing. Shit can be interpreted in a million and one ways.. and there are always never-ending examples of how people got the wrong impression. My girl does not speak English very well (or me her language) so miss-communication can be a problem sometimes.. and either way it's always interesting and annoying. So anyway.. this thread is dedicated to communication in all its forms. Why is it important? what has changed? what will the future be like? what is best? so many questions...

I tivoed Star Trek the Next Generation yesterday and the episode was about this race of people that was incomprehensible to all outsiders.

Picard ended up figuring out that they spoke completely in metaphor. Was really cool to think about that.

I'm fascinated by people who are deaf/blind. Do they still have the ability to imagine color if they are blind? They have no basis for comprehending it...so what do they "see" in their mind's eye? Same thing with music for deaf people.

If sheer volume of communication is any indicator, I would say talking, in my head, to myself. For some reason, whenever I think of anything, I then have to say it to myself in words. Kind of an annoying trait for meditators.

I believe communication is a flaw. My favorite way to communicate is through silence kind of telekinetic but a little less mystical then that may sound.

Writing is my favorite because it's easier for me to make myself clear. When I speak I'm always looking for the best way to say something and repeating myself. Sometimes I don't know if I'm getting through or not. I'm more confident with my words in writing because I can take the time to choose which way sounds best.

I find the most effective form of communication is violence. Trust me 99% of the time nothing will make your message more heard and clear than your fists, a good ol baseball bat, or a gun.

^15 year old male?

I like writing... I love poetry. If I am communicating with someone, I prefer straight to the point (in spoken word), honest... no beating around the bush, no b/s (of course, you hardly ever get that). It's a blast communicating with people who have nothing to hide... you always know where you stand and where the limits are. I see this most in elderly men for some reason and I get along with them and feel more comfortable with them than any other general group of people. It's where I draw my inspiration for communication.

My FAVORITE form of communication is music. It's the most spiritual form of communication known to man.

If I know what you're talking about, I do the same thing. I have to vocalize the thought in my mind before I move on to the next thought. When I'm high, I start to vocalize it, but it takes so long that I forget what I was thinking/talking to myself about.

i would have to say Writing, because i can let people know how i feel without them waiting on me to get done. that and so i dont have to see their reactions right away. ex: when i have had some stuff to tell my mom or GF i write them a note and say it because it's just easier for me that manning up and saying it. now that i read that it sounds like i'm a pussy and hiding behind my words but oh well.
