Role Models!

Role Models are extremely important for everyone who has yet to transmute themselves into their own role model. I would say 99% of humans need role models.

Who are your role models? Why?

What makes a good role model? Why?

Do you conduct your everyday life will a conscious effort to become a role model for others? Why/Not?

I wanted to bring this issue up here because I think having a wisely choosen role model can be one of the biggest contributors to people of character and inner strength. Whatever you guys have to say on the subject let us know!

I'm trying to get out of fulfilling a role, myself. I feel that conforming to an idea blunts awareness.

My role model is the possible person I could be further down the road if I commit time and energy (if they are even any different) to some particular thing. So in that sense my role model is changing all the time.

my role model is my grandpa becuase he has taught me so much about the things i love. and threw that i fell that he has made me the person i am today. the good parts anyways.

I don't feel that i would make a good role model because of the troubles of my past. Maby it's just due to my youth, but I do however hope to one day be a good role model to my future children.

No Rolemodels. I just do whatever feels good to me and brings me happiness and to others around me.

Exactly! Couldn't agree more. But everybody is always like "Do as I say not as I do". F*** That you hypocrites. A good role model is just that, a model... playing a role.

What do you mean out of fulfilling a role? You can't get out of your role as a person. You can embrace it and turn your person into the best it can be. Why even be aware if your not striving for the highest of prosperity no matter what that prosperity may be?

So do you have goals?

I disagree. I think that we have ideas of how we should be, and these ideas comprise a picture of a kind of character that we think we should be. Then, we spend alot of time trying to be that character (the good upstanding person, the loving mother, the cool guy, etc.). In fact, we may be trying to be many characters at once.

The thing is, they're just ideas, and as long as we struggle to be an idea, we have our attention focused into our minds, and not on the lives right in front of us that we are living. That's why I say I think trying to fulfill a role blunts awareness. It's like having one foot in a daydream all the time.

I'm there Rev. That's why Ego Trippings name is so cool. You always want to be one thing but you're constantly another. The grass always seems greener in your mind. I like to follow my ideas though, personally. That makes me more of a dreamer and I find that dreamers have the best luck.

Role models certainly act as models or "modules" for us to place ourselves in.

Personally I have many role models, and I wouldn't limit them to just a few or even the whole of their being.

The modules I wish to fill are things that embody the essence of life. The truthfulness of being. Unjaded, unphased applications or reactions to being immersed in life. Any true expression I can respect, and any free interpretation I can admire. True, and free being the words of emphasis.

That being said, I admire much of nature, and find myself connecting a lot with metaphors of natural essences. Such as: "Free like the wind" , or "Mobile like water" etc etc.
