Answer to are we alone?

According to some of the best minds in science, odds are we are a unique species. If we ponder extraterrestrial life we are going to have to really think out of the box. Are they humanoid? Unlikely. If you mean in a religious sense. Odds are 50-50. The feeling of aloneness is a human condition. Everyone feels it from time to time. Freud called it the oceanic feeling. Feeling you are a part of some greater collective. Unfortunately, Freud didn't feel it. Nor do I, which is sad.

I don't know....It is pretty weird with te UFos and such stuff. There are like 100ds or docs which state thata there are extrats out there but only known to NASA, Military and so on. But if we aren't alone then I am pretty sure we are not one of the most advanced species in this universe cause after all the stupid things we did to our planet, our people, our dreams... I dont think we can call ourselves smart maybe just full with ideea but not smart cause then we wouldn't do so much stupid things....
These are my 2 cents

Are you sure you mean me? Oh well, I get the gist of your question, and it's mans ability to reason that makes us unique. Chimps are self aware, but they can't reason in the higher sense. Read some Thomas Paine.

Now, I see said the blind man. Drakes equation pretty much sums it up. If life on this planet were destroyed today. Like in the past with the mass extinctions, the odds of evolution going the same route as it did in the past is unlikely. Only one trip around, that's why we are obligated (to ourselves) to reach a higher plain in our thoughts, philosophically speaking. By the way, I believe in Deism. Yes, I believe in God, but I don't think he meddles in our affairs. He's to busy with the Andromeda Galaxy, I hear their a real hand full!

No the chilling thing is there doesn't have to be anything out there, we could quite plausibly be it.

Ohio State runs a SETI program funded by NASA. In 1977 they recieved a "WOW" signal, it is called that because that is what the listener said when he found the signal. It was a deliberate pulse which only lasted about 40 seconds, but it was intriguing because it was broadcasting at 1400 mHz hydrogen line. The hydrogen line is illegal to use according to international law. The signal was a very narrow band which means it was at least farther away than the moon. Anything closer would be a wider band. Since then they have had similar pulses from all over the galaxy. Bursts of signals that rule out any type of background radiation or stellar phenomena. Could they be receiving signals from other worlds? Maybe. But don't get too excited. They haven't been able to pinpoint one single signal.

My theory is that this is OUR universe and everything in it was put here for us to explore and discover.

We may only be able to reach the moon now but in 5000 years or more (if we dont blow ourselves up) we may be able to master space flight or fly through a wormhole or design an anti matter space ship or whatever in able to traverse the mind boggling distances of space.
The simple answers are usually the correct ones, "the answer" could be right in front of our noses but we are too dumb to see it. I'm most defiantly wrong though. While were glassing distant galaxies the proof could be right here in our playground. There could be a civilization on one of the many moons that orbit Jupiter or Saturn. We are are so convinced that you need oxygen and water for life to evolve that I think some scientist have tunnel vision. For all we know they might drink sulfuric acid and eat strychnine and oxygen and water may be like poison to them. We know allot but in reality we dont know shit, plain and simple. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Yes, but remember the movie ALIEN? The thing bled acid, and liked to put creepy things down your throat, which eventually would exit out your abdominal cavity, rather messily. Now do we really want that? Talk about harshing your mellow.

I just watched Transformers last night, again. Have an open mind, that might happen one day. A planet full of autonomous robots...hmm. What if our computers get so smart we have a snowball effect and they take over the world? I realize the movie is sci-fi but open your mind to the possibility.

I think about shit like this all the time. What if there is a God and we're little virtual reality machines and each one of us has a pre-programmed frequency built into us and all he has to do is to turn his little dial to channel 7 and he see's what we see, just to check in on us. Can you prove that's not what is going on?

Why not? Scientistists say that if we are ever visited it would probably be artificial intelligence. They are already experimenting with nano-technology in medicine. I do hope they are gruesome and terrifying creatures though, like the War of the Worlds bunch. I'd get a kick out of the old lady across the streets face, when those things came out of the ground. Plus as an added bonus, I LOVE to get scared SH**LESS! The scarier the better. It's my only cardio.

Our galaxy has a high chance of planets with similarities to earth. Theres so much 'dust' in our galaxy too.

True, true. I meant the Queens "we". Sometimes I feel as though i'm stranded on a desert island. "We" throw good money after bad to seach for other we's. Stop the madness. Let us clean up the mess here before we start thinking about polluting someone else. No civilization in their right mind would come a hundred billion miles to learn how to make petro-chemical products. Long after "we" are gone there will still be used pampers, water bottles, rats and cockroaches. I'm a little off point but, I read our news paper this morning and "we" are going to build a coke plant in our back yard so our mega-polluting steel mill can crank out more sulfuric acid and carbon monoxide.

I was reading the NASA site and I was of the understanding that the Chandra X-Ray telescope was revealing incredible things way beyond the visible light range. Also, the Milkyway Galaxy is missing two spiral arms. They thought that there were four but only two exist. It's mind blowing stuff they are finding, and yes the Hubble deep space images are awe inspiring. And according to the best minds our massive black hole at the center of our galaxy has stopped munching!? I got a C- in Physics, so this new stuff blows what's left of my mind. Dust aside, is there life in our galaxy? Define life.

Life: Life is a condition that distinguishes organisms from non-living objects, such as non-life, and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism and reproduction.

The physicists say that the Universe began as a super hot super dense and super bright object that was many many times smaller than an atom then exploded "creating" the Big Bang

Is "creation" not in the bible? This is where science and religion come to a crossroads.

This is what I want to know: What came before the hot dense bright object that was smaller than the quark of an atom? Even they [physicists] dont have an answer to that.
