Anyone ever...
..thought of ingesting a magical mushroom, cactus or another compound as like a visit to the shaman..? It would surely do us all well to visit the shaman every now and again. What do you think?

i always view eatting shrooms as a trip to the spiritual realm. or at least a window outside letting you glimpse in somewhat. regardless yeah it can be GREAT for mental health, as long as you are ready, i suppose it could also be awful for your mental health though? ive taken shrooms a few times when i was in a low in my life, not sure what to do and def gained some advice and comfort from the insight gained during the trip.

I would love it, think about it quite frequently, but I don't know anywhere to get.. any.. of that. I been lookin' for LSD since I was fourteen (when i first heard about it) and have found it once. But the guy got popped the same day I met him and before I got out of school to go get some. So eleven years and no luck, I don't see me coming across any soon.

I am the Shaman. The mushrooms visit me.

I used to search for years hither and thither for the mush in the wild - no luck. Then one day 'they found me'...right in my back yard after all that time! On reflection I think it was more than just coincidence - it was all about timming.
Prior to this fortuitous discovery I had thought of the mush experience as...well more like the mushroom as an entity in and of itself...as though the mush was so much larger and greater than the physical and chemical constituents which appear as that fungi; as if the fungi were a universe even. The 'green men going to work' was one such way I refered to it as. Certainly, of all the drugs/hallucinogens - mush was always the one which resonated most in terms of spiritual occurance/sentiments/guidance. Since happening upon such thoughts/feelings, I had experienced a similar vibe with some 'plants' in that on one ocassion at least...I could feel and sense a plants conciousness - a sense of timelessness contained therein. Like their genetic code was right there all along stretching back to the beginning - but some how that plant knowing of the present situation aswell as the distant past - 'watching' always...senseing... ....and even responding to touch. Now I make a point to 'stroke' plants as one might a pet - I think they like that. For it is one thing to experience such ecstasy stroking and touching another human being, or a pet even...but a plant? Caressing a plant? Sensuousness? I thought you said you were open minded? hehe......she was devine. ![]()

I don't look at tripping as a trip to the shaman. I look at it like healing, interspective/connectivity with all(depending on the substance and the trip), I just think visiting a real shaman would be a lot more intricate and amazing. Having someone else help channel the energy to and through me. Wow, one day, one day.
And I agree drugs visit me, I don't visit them.

It might be a lot healthier if people took psychedelics in ritual type situations rather than just taking them to get fucked up.

I've only taken them a few times but the last time was just the other day. I learned a lot that day even though it was extremely painful. I mostly felt it as intense back pain.... as intense as it was from my accident. I got so scared that maybe I had done something again to my back over the weekend but I realized I hadn't been true to my emotional self. I've been so worried about my boyfriend lately. I'm pretty sure he's an alcoholic and it hurts me because I feel his pain and I know he is using alcohol to relax etc but I know it's actually hurting him. Anyway don't mean to go off topic here. I'm trying to get him to go to yoga with me and I've even tried to find mj he likes. Found one Indica he kinda likes but most he gets paranoid. Anyway thanks for letting me ramble. Thought about it and it's not off topic. Needed to feel that pain... get it out. Just unfortunately didn't have the help of a shaman.

Mushrooms to me is like a visit with everything. I become open to everything. Every idea, every object, every place becomes profound and meaningful. I don't take things or situations for granted when I'm shrooming, I just become emersed in the moment with hyper-awareness and sensitivity. I do shrooms to feel lifes beauty.

I think almost everyone should trip at least once. I can honestly tell who has tripped before and who hasn't, especially when I'm under the influence. It's honestly life-changing. It does the soul good. Those that have never experienced a hallucinogen, PLEASE talk to someone that has done it first. You don't want to swallow even 1 hit of some of the lucy I've had without knowing what to expect... I've had it slipped to me on my birthday as a hardened acid veteran and I actually began to get pretty freaked out until I saw a tree moving, then I was just like "Oh shit, I'm tripping... hell yeah!" That's a badass Albert Hoffman quote by the way. So true.
