All other entertainment systems..

to become obsolete in a decade?

Brain Video: Inducing “Out-Of-Body” experiences using virtual reality goggles - Mind Update

This isn't particularly new news.. but the implications are massive.

If you met someone who said I have a machine that can give you access to a world where anything is possible.. you would probably think they ere full of shit.. or at least selling some powerful hallucinogens.

Who play games anymore? Who would watch TV? Why would you do any of that comparatively mundane shit if you can leave your body and do whatever you like? Things are changing.. and soon they will change very fast indeed. Welcome!

Yeah right man, you wont get me in that thing!

On a serious note I think this could revolutionize education (and spelling) along with entertainment. But I also wonder if it would start a whole new epidemic of anti social addictions. Kind of along the lines of 2003 a Space Odyssey, with the brain caps.

Edit: whoops just read more carefully on the article. That looks more like a possible therapy for amputee victems. Allowing them to "feel" their missing parts, and alleviate the phantom pain so often plauging them. Ted.com has some good lectures with projected body senses, but I am too tired to sift through the site right now.

NASA found out in the beginnings of the space program that pens would not work in space. SO NASA spent millions of dollars and a good year and a half developing a pen that does not need gravity to draw the ink down.
The Russians just brought pencils...

I'd try it out. I still need to hop into an isolation tank.

Very cool post!
