As far as the concepts of karma and reincarnation, the HareKrishnas and Eckankar are close to the same page. Basic principles are from the east tailored to a western person's lifestyle. It's about learning the spiritual laws and trying to not create situations that are non productive to you.
If you go to the site and see something that clicks within you, you'll check it out more. If nothing interests you, that's fine, too. No heavy recruitment here.

The Light and Sound of God together are the Voice of God. In scriptures we know It as the Word or Logos. In other words, it's God speaking from beyond creation to Its creation.

Cool quote. I like any belief that strips God down to the common denominator of Light that we can all experiences, rather than anthropromorphize the intangibility of God into some kind of archetype or icon.

Well put. Light and sound transcend the physical, which we experience also. Are not dreams merely our awareness of another layer of consciousness.

Quieting the mind is most difficult for me. We think of the mind as our "ruler", when in fact it is more like an unruly child. Watching, unattached, our thoughts going thru all their motions and emotions is a good start to calming it down, I believe.

There's an Islamic (possibly Sufi) mantra (for lack of a better word):
Allah Hu, Allah Hu, Allah Allah Allah Hu.

Very cool, hijabi. I've never heard that before. I'll pass that on to my Eckankar friends. All religions, like everything else, derive from the sound current.
Oh, SilvertLeaf...can't download the video. . . what's the bottom line ?

I agree with Dozer that there are many things that can quiet the mind when chanted long enough with the right vibrations being created.
The Japanese Club at the local University leads a Zen chant meditation circle. Their choice, in instruction, has been to choose Arigato, which is thank you in Japanese. And it is chanted as such.
A___________________ _____end of breath
Ri__________________ ________""
Ga__________________ ________""
To__________________ _________"
The mantra I use when I am walking or working and would like to keep my mind close to something that spawns the closeness with where it came.
Om Mani Padme Hum
I have even once heard it said that Coca Cola chanted over and over would produce the same resaults......maybe it true, but I feel it would be a stretch.

Efficiency is anything that scores.
-Bruce Lee
By any means neccessary.
-Malcolm X (peace be upon him)
If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me. Thanks, Dozer.

Each soul is individual. What might be good for them, might not be the best for you. Experiment.
