I don't know about this - like you, I didn't get high til my third or fourth time smoking - however, I think the actual sensation of being high is very recognizable. When I first got high, i KNEW it - it's a very distinct sensation. You'll know it when you're high.

What do you know about vaporizers? That would pretty much cover the "it's ok to use but not to smoke" thing.

Although if you are having trouble getting high from joints and bongs, vapes might be even harder to appreciate the high. For what it's worth, I didn't get high my first several times either - just felt like my knees were tingly, haha. But then one time it hit me. You'll figure it out.
