how long does bud keep?

Damn, it's really been a while since I've been on this site, but yeah anyways, how long will bud keep before it grows mold and such in an airtight jar? I'm leaving for China tomorrow, and I'm going to be gone for a little over 2 weeks. I just wanted to make sure that my bud isn't going to grow any mold while I'm gone, and render my bud worthless.

I'd even go as far as to say your weed will improve if you leave it dried in a jar in a dark/cool/dry place.

it'll be fine after 2 weeks, it might get a little dry and crumbly (hence it will probably burn faster), but it should still be fine. i think ive had the same bud for sometimes 3 weeks and it was fine.

i would assume it you vacuum sealed the jar and kept it in a dark place it could possibly last for months

I'd put it in a glass jar, in a cool dark place, it's the best way. If you want you can put a little vaseline on the threads to make it reallly airtight. I like jars way more than bags, they just keep it fresh longer. There isn't really a set time that marijuana will last, but people will cure their bud in jars for upto a year sometimes, so two weeks isn't a big thing.

It would definitely be fine in just a plastic bag, although I agree with ghib that an airtight jar is preferable. Have you ever noticed how many crystals accumulate on the inside of a baggie that's been holding weed? This has to do with the static cling that occurs from the plastic; the static can cause crystals to stick to the bag, which you obviously don't want. This isn't a problem with jars, which is why I prefer them. Plus you can get some really cool looking hand blown jars.

I've heard of a book that says if you leave your nugs in an air tight jar inside a dark drawer,it will continue to cure and become more potent! 5-6 months is the limit that I've heard. Can anyone confirm this???

I can say I routinely have bud that is over 6-9 months old. I'm just now finishing off the last of my stash that I bought a year ago.

Smokes great, still potent as ever. You just have to keep it dry and in a cool, dark place.

I have been able to retrieve some 2 year old bud from my Mom that I smoked. It was, uh... Well it didn't taste good, but it got me high as hell. I quite honestly don't think that time effects the THC at all, it's only the quality of bud that you are going after when you put it in the freezer or in a jar.

well i dont know for sure if time diminishes THC but ive found weed in my drawer that must have been months old and smoked it and it still got me high

Hmmm, a bit off topic sorry. But anyone ever seen this? HU-210 is a synthetic cannabinoid that was synthesized around 1988 in the group of Prof. Raphael Mechoulam at the Hebrew University. HU-210 is 100 to 800 times more potent than natural THC from cannabis and has an extended duration of action.[1] HU-210 is the (-)-1,1-dimethylheptyl analog of 11-hydroxy-Δ8-tetrahydrocannabinol , in some references it is called 1,1-dimethylheptyl-11-hydroxytetrahydrocan nabinol. The abbreviation HU stands for Hebrew University.

Per a 2005 article in the Journal Of Clinical Investigation, HU-210 with daily high doses over a few weeks stimulates neural growth in rats' hippocampus region, the opposite effect of drugs like alcohol, nicotine, heroin, and cocaine. It was also indicated by this increased neural growth to entail antianxiety and antidepressant effects.[2]

HU-210, alongside WIN 55,212-2 and JWH-133, is implicated in preventing the inflammation caused by Amyloid beta proteins involved in Alzheimer's Disease, in addition to preventing cognitive impairment and loss of neuronal markers. This anti-inflammatory action is induced through the agonization of cannabinoid receptors which prevents microglial activation that elicits the inflammation.
