New to smoking pot

As you can tell by the title, I'm new to smoking weed. I did a bit when I was younger, but haven't touched it in 7 or 8 years. Anyway, my doctor recommended that I start smoking it for the pain that I have due to my Crohn's disease. I know nothing about rolling it, so today I went out and bought myself a glass pipe. It's got the little bowl with the hole in it, and the hole on the side, and the hole you suck it all through(sorry if this sounds dirty or whatnot, but i'm a little retarded(not really)). I've got a fairly small amount of weed sitting in my freezer, and it's all already broken up into tiny little flakes(thats the only way I can describe it). So my question is, can I use this stuff in my pipe or do I need to have bigger chunks? And before anyone asks, it is definitely weed because my dad has been rolling joints with it for the past 2 weeks, and I've been getting high off of it. So yeah, with that out of the way. Back to my question.

Should I wait till I get some more stuff that's not so broken up, or can I smoke the small shit in my pipe?

One other question, does anyone here know what the Compassionate Club is in Vancouver, British Columbia? Because that's where I'm going to be getting my stuff soon, I just wanted to know if any of you guys know anything about it. Like prices, quality, etc.....

So yeah, any help would be greatly appreciated.

One more question, when I do smoke out of the pipe, it'll obviously start smelling like pot, so is there a good way to clean it to keep the smell down? My whole family knows I'm doing this, so I'm not trying to hide it or anything, I'm just hoping to keep the odour down.

If this is all too confusing for you guys, I'll try and post again when I'm not so fucked and tired.

Weed- Flakes = "shake"
The whole that is not inside the "bowl" of your pipe is called a carb.

Yeah but you can smoke the finely ground stuff in a pipe, just don't like suck really hard in or it will all come in your mouth(that's what she said?). Gentle hits while releasing your finger from the carb to "clear" the pipe from smoke.

You can clean pipes by letting them soak in rubbing alcohol and salt for a day(include some shake arounds for good measure). But the smell really won't be that bad just a little stinkyy. But remember rubbing alcohol is flamable so make sure it's all washed out/rinsed out when your done with the pipe soaking. BTW you shouldn't have to worry about cleaning your pipe for a while it's not a big deal.

Dude I'm sorry to hear that. I had a friend in middle school with that, he had to go through tons of mad treatments.

Unfortunately, yep, to both of those. I've gone through at least 8 different trials for different drug treatments, and none of them have worked. And after being on every other prescription narcotic, my doctor finally decided to recommend smoking weed. I didn't really want to do it, but since I started 2 or 3 weeks ago, I've had a lot of relief. I'm still kind of against doing it, but whatever. If it's it working, great.

Once your pipe gets a little black in the bowl you can throw shake(flakes as you say) in there and it wont matter, as for right now it may pull through a bit and be hot so inhale lightly...

Yeah that's too bad. I don't think smoking is too bad.

Just try not to think of it as a chore, that will take the fun out of it before it has gets a chance. You can really only enjoy it as much as you are willing to open up to it. That's why smoking when you just want to get high for some specific reason, it can really take the fun out of smoking.

Just practice rolling spliffs, you'll get the hang out it. So are you going to get pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes then? That is... asuming you are in a medical mj state?

I live in Canada, so we have a place called the Compassionate Club. And if your doctor says that you require it, they can sell you weed in all shapes and sizes. From actual weed to oils infused with it, butter, even muffins and brownies, etc.... It's apparently really cheap to buy, $3/gram, but the waiting list sucks. So right now I'm smoking some free stuff I've been able to get off some people I know.

I'm hoping to hear back from them sometime this week. There's apparently a 90 orientation where they teach you all about smoking it and rolling it and all that jazz. For now though, I just needed some tips cuz I was smoking from a pipe for the first time.

you should buy yourself a nice glass bubbler. if its medical i would go as far as to buy a vaporizer, which might be your best bet.

to keep ash out of your mouth when smoking ground up weed, you can buy fancy expensive small glass screens from headshops, or look for a tiny rock in your yard. put the rock in the bowl over the hole and you should be able to suck air through it. put ground up weed on top of this and smoke as you normally would.

in vancouver you should check out east hastings where the new amsterdam cafe is. i am not sure where the medical marijuana is sold, but they weed and seeds and cannabis books, etc.

Damnit, I wrote out my reply, and then my browser screwed up on me. Shit.

Anyway, it's not actually medical marijuana, because that is impossible to get and it's not as effective. I'm getting it through the Compassionate Club of Vancouver, and I honestly don't know how it all works yet. I will hopefully be getting in soon, as long as my Doctor signed all the forms when I sent them to her.

I will definitely be buying a bubbler or a vaporizer once I do get in. I get a discount with them, so I'm going to wait until I get in. How much do bubbler's cost roughly?

And yeah, last night when I smoked my pipe for the first time, I got some ash in my mouth, so I will definitely try putting a rock in. Couldn't I also use a mesh screen or something similar?

Yeah mesh screens work but aren't really nice with glass bowls. It's also a good idea to also burn a mesh screen before fitting it into your pipe. put it on a paper clip or something and just torch that shit with a lighter it helps get extra chemicals off it depending on what the screen is made from.

I am so used to scoobies/ash that I don't even bother anymore haha.

yea, a mesh screen would work, just trim it so it ends up being about a half inch, also, it might require you have some built up rezin in the bowl otherwise it will "spring" out..

As far as I know, with Medicinal Marijuana you get a prescription from your doctor. But it takes like 8 or 9 months just to get approved for the shit, and then it's expensive, and not as effective.

With the Compassionate Club you just get a note from your doctor that says you have a condition that is on a list of approved medical conditions for marijuana use. You then join the club, get a card that says you can have in your possession X amount of marijuana and whatever you use to smoke it.

I'm not totally sure about all this cuz I haven't been in yet, but I've known someone who has done it, and this is the way it was explained to me both by my doctor, and the friend i know who has done.

Once I find out more, I'll post more of the info here.
