Why do you enjoy smoking?

For me it has to be two things I love the way cannabis smoke tastes, billions and billions times better than tobacco. Secondly I love being able to toke and chill out and watch a movie or hang with friends. the only thing I don't like is when I have things I want to get done, then I smoke and procrastinate, this has been occurring a lot more now that it is not summer anymore...

I dig it because I'm "manic" and I refuse to take meds for it. So it mellows the constant bickering that my mind does, and for the most part, dulls the crazy extremes. It allows me to focus on whatever facet of my life I need to..whether that be creating now, analyzing the past, etc. Basically, it's wonderful

I like smoking pot because it helps me look at life through another angle. Also because it speeds up my thought processes.

i like the act of smoking in general; smoking has become the ritual of my social circle.

we meet up, catch up say hellos and what not.. pack bowls and just chill out. its so relaxing to share a bowl with good friends.
plus when we are all stoned everyone just laughs about all the weird shit we come up with.

Great replies so far.

I feel the need to experience altered states and weed has a pretty benign effect. It doesn`t stop me getting on with my life (although I know it does some people), it never makes me act like a dick, it makes music sound better, it`s a nice ritual to share with close friends and it doesn`t fuck with my health too much.

i like how i can blaze and get altered, but still be functional and get on with my life.

Totally agreed. Pot helps me in life multiple ways. It helps me look at things through a different angle and think of things outside of the box. At the same time it's what my group of friends does now.

We just chill outside rollin / smokin spliffs ( we dont use bowls anymore, bnesides my corn cob pipe on occasion lol). Just talk about whats goin on in life, school, family matters, relationships ect. We are a group of about 4 guys and 4 girls. So its pretty nice

. Our friends mom lets us smoke in his backyard, got a pond with fish and a bunch of decorative things.

Its gonna be wierd though, it is my last weekend smoking for a month. I still feel like ill be able to enjoy the scenario even if im not high.

It's something I can do instantly to get away from everything.

Instead of getting on my bike and riding 40 miles, I have to get dressed and get on my bike and start ridding before I can get away from anything.

Smoking is pretty much instant though.

It's also fun to make boring things interesting. (Speeding classes, job orientations, road trips, fishing, etc..) Oh and it's a fun way to get to know people. You can really make a friend by sharing your peace offerings.

I liked what farmergiles said earlier about feeling compelled to experience altered states and weed being the easiest to deal with (for me)

Lots of reasons, most very cliche. First off, real life is just boring and we all know that weed can make the most boring thing at least tolerable. So, since I have a fairly mundane life that generally consists of hanging out all day with equally shiftless slackers, I smoke weed which makes sitting around bitching about having no money a lot better.

Secondly, because I'm a musician and I've become somewhat dependent on weed for writing new material. Partly because it makes me more creative (there's another cliche) and partly because I just can't motivate myself to really work on a new song unless I'm stoned.

Third, I'm OCD as fuck about a ton of shit and whenever I'm antsy or really bummed out and fretting about something I can just smoke a blunt and stop giving a fuck about things of that nature and instead concentrate on something better like........getting higher.

Lastly, and this is kind of a take-off of my first reason, because it makes everything more entertaining. Got a new book that seems interesting? Smoke one and then read it because it will be much more vivid and you can lose yourself in it more easily. Same for movies. Same for sports. Anything. Weed makes it better.

mmmmmmmmhmmmmmmmm to all above posts. recently i love it for the medicinal functions it provides for me, fucking gvmt catch on.

but on the other side i love it for the recreational purposes as well.

"i could do this sober, but if i get stoned ill enjoy doing this" has been my recent thought process. yet still i dont relate mj to the qualms of "getting fucked up" im talking more like things such as cleaning, i can clean my kitchen sober and get it looking alright; stoned im fucking qtiping the caulk along the kitchen sink and getting shit sparkling clean. i could go on a road trip sober and still appreciate its main purpose of visiting an unknown place, but bringing along a little travel kit makes me forget about 3.60/gallon gas and makes it a plenty more fun/special. yall know about that little overlook/parking area ya find that is superb for a few hits/enjoyment. ahhh yes fucking road trips, i guess that forgetting about gas prices isnt fully truth, but still an herbal road trip is priceless, if your wallet can afford it.

Hell fucking yeah. I just sold my pool table not too long ago and used the proceeds to fund a trip to the mountains and my own personal two-story cabin for three nights with four friends of mine and it was fucking awesome. We brought an oz with us for the three hour ride, got blazed right before sunset and just admired the view as we went up and literally across the mountain through an access trail that our GPS found. There is nothing better than a road trip to parts unknown and you are absolutely correct in saying that weed just makes it so much better.
