THC and losing hair
I have been a pot smoker for over 2 years. Around the 2 year mark, I noticed a direct relation between how much weed I was smokin' and the amount of hair I would shed daily. It's something that's easy to keep accurate track of because I have long hair.
Based on experiments with periods of smoking and not smoking, I am 100% sure of the relation between THC in my system and my daily hair shed rate.
Has anyone heard of this condition? I love smoking weed and i'm wondering if there's a way to combat it and still be able to smoke. Seems I can't smoke anymore than once every 2 weeks without affecting my shedding.
Yes my hair's fuckin important to me. ...Guitar players... I know...

I don't think smoking pot has anything to do with losing hair, actually there was an article somewhere around where it says the exact opposite.
I think your shedding just as much hair as before but the longer it gets the easier it is to notice.

I have had long hair for longer than I've been smoking and experimenting and I am 110% sure of the relation between smoking and shedding. I've gone through 6 or 7 periods of experimentation and all results were the same. More pot = more hair on the counter.
I know though that some people's bodies react completely different. I don't know if it's blood type or what exactly but some people seem completely unaffected by it.
I've also read other articles on the internet where people have reported the same condition.
Ultimately, if there's nothing I can do, i'll choose hair over pot. This is why i'm seeing if there's some kind of compromise or remedy etc...

i do believe there is a direct correlation between smoking weed and losing hair. and it freaks me out
BUT hairloss does run in my family on my mom's side and my dad's side.... so i could just be inevitably fucked.

It's a sad thing to be 100% sure of something and 100% incorrect.

smoking anything, not just herb, could be placing undue stress on your body and that could potentially manifest as some extra hair shedding. shedding is completely normal so a small increase is most likely nothing to worry about.

lol yes this man is a shining example of the fact that you DON'T lose hair from smoking pot.
Of course, everyone is different.

My scalp is home to the remains of a once great and thriving civilization of hair follicles.
Now, I have to Uncles whom I resemble physically and while they share the similarity up top, one had never smoked that I'm aware of, and the other has indulged only a handful of times.
You will lose an average of 60 to 100 hairs a day, and by 'you' I mean everyone.
You don't need the hair to rock, man. Let go of the 'Samson complex'.
Here's a list of a few 'baldies' in guitarland
Joe Satriani
Kerry King
Tom Morello
Mark Knopfler
David Gilmour
The only wig I would ever wear while I perform in a gig situtation is a scrotum wig....

Effects of seasonal changes on hair re-growth
"The normal human hair on the scalp consists of about 100,000 hair follicles.
Each healthy hair follicle is capable of hair re-growth innumerable times in its lifetime.
The normal rate of hair shedding is about 50-100 hairs a day, but some seasonal changes can trigger the hair shedding to occur even two times faster."
I always shed more in the warmer times of the year.
btw, I've been smoking for a long, long time. Granted, my hair is thinning, not from weed, but from old age.
Even then, my hair is a vanity to me. It's still long, thick and beautiful.
I will never believe pot makes your hair fall out.

It's a sad thing to make a comment about something you have no idea about.
I haven't just done it once and noticed it by co-incidence. I have gone through 6 or 7 periods of smoking and paying attention to shed count and then stopping and paying attention to shed count.
EVERY SINGLE TIME: my shed rate for the next 5 - 10 days is no just a little higher, but way way way way higher. When I don't smoke, i'm losing at most, at MOST 40 hairs a day. When I do smoke, it is well over 100. These results are consistent through the times I experimented through weeks of smoking and weeks of not smoking.
Every body is different. Some people's bodies can do really well without meat. Other people, when they attempt to be a vegetarian turn white and become very thin. Some people can thrive on a diet of mainly fish. Others can't handle it more than twice a week. All based on blood types too... and is introducing something like THC to different peoples bodies going to have the exact same effect? By all probabilities, no.
So please tell me, how am I wrong?
No nevermind that, please only answer if you actually know what the fuck you're talking about.

youre not gonna get anyone to agree with you because most of the posters here smoke and dont have any negative side effects.
its possible, albeit unlikely, that smoking affects your shed rate. there are alot of other variables to take into account as well. so theres no real way to know for sure just off of the experiences of a small sample of people. try talking to your doctor, he/ she may be able to shed some light on the situation
