Well, just tell your homie to lay off the ectasy for a while, like 6 months + or at least a year.

WE'RE not Dr.'s man. That's what he needs. A dr. We can't, and won't tell you how your friend should be treated medicinally.
It sounds like it sucks really bad, but he needs help that can't be sought here.

Basically that is what I was going to say.
We can support you, supporting him, that is about it.
I have some friends who are f-ed up from too many pills and it's been years. Their lives have changed or atleast are more emotionally driven. The best thing to do it go to a doctor or theropist and learn new ways to cope with a transformed brain.
Sorry to hear about his and your pain with it though dude.
Much love and here's to all the good things happening.

Also, given the fact that he's seventeen, it could be that he's just growing up and realizing the world sucks a lot more than we're led to believe when we're young. That always fucks with 'em.

i dont mean to come across as an asshole, but THERE ISNT ALWAYS A PILL TO FIX YOUR PROBLEMS!
there are pills thats claim to help restore serotonin, the only downside is they can lead to heart problems and probably other problems. its known as 5-htp, which is basically serotonin. inside your body, the 5-htp is processed and becomes 5-ht(serotonin). thats good, the only problem is that a large amount of this serotonin is ending up in the blood stream and muscles(like the heart) and not in the synapses in the brain, where your friend would like them to be. the blood serotonin, im not sure by what action, can actually cause the heart to work harder than it should. if your friend takes 5-htp tell him to take the amount that is recomended on the package with good meals, and no alcohol while hes taking the 5-htp.
at age 17, your friend will likely recover naturally if he allows himself a long time to get his body chemisty back in a normal balance. im guessing you drop too, so maybe you can learn from your friends situation and control the way you guys have fun. 17 is super young to be going off the deep end with drugs... have fun and all that but just be smart about it so you can still enjoy life when you're 25

L-tyrosine and 5-HTP suppliments are helpful, but if he's damaged his serotonin receptors, it's generally irreversable...
I don't know what to say other than get him analyzed, see how fucked his head is from a cat scan(costs $$$) and see a psychiatrist.
I hope the best for your friend, I hope he's strong enough to perservere this kind of hard-ship. Oh yeah and if he thinks X is the only thing that makes him happy and continues to use it, he will be in for a rude awakening when he can't get high anymore. So make sure he quits doing all drugs. Yes even cannabis until he can get analyzed by some professionals.
Sucks when the party is over, ya know?
Be a good friend to him.
Much love

I hope it all turns out for good as well. Being a good support system is key to any recovery and your friend is no different. That you are hear asking already seems to me that you are the type of friend that is needed. Keep it up and take care of yourself too.
in kind

mdma damages serotonin receptors, and most of the time it is irreversible
serotonin= controls mood
when a pill is taken, mdma is absorbed by the brain via serotonin transporters. the serotonin transporters become confused and begin to transport serotonin out of the cell, and not into the cell. and thus this causes the serotonin to be trapped in the synaptic cleft, where it binds again and again with serotonin receptors, stimulating an ecstasy high.
id advise your friend to stop for a long while.

Could be the depression stems from no girl friend, no friends, working at McMeats, etc.

Don't get me wrong. It's not like a child's ignorant to it or anything. But it's adolescence, rubbing up against the borders of society. And that's when you start realizing how fucked we've all got ourselves.

some good advice in this thread^^^^
the problem with hard drugs is that you realize that they FUCK UP your brain (and body) after you have taken em for a while. The first few months is all "la la land". then it hits you when u look yoself in the mirror and see a "ghost". Aghost that is deep IN the drug culture.
E will fuck up your receptors so bad, i dont know if its totally reversable even when you quit cold turkey.
he has to quit all drugs ASAP. Meanwhile u gotta support him.
In a year or two he should be alot better. Maybe not 100% like he used to be before the E's, but much better than his current condition.
doing drugs especially on a young age can have serious effects on your mood /depression later on in life

What about the girlfriend/sucky school, job, etc. issues ? I always thought a $1000/week and most problems go away.
Don't get me started on corporate anti-depressants...why do you think the suicide rates on troops are sky high? (Besides killing 12 year-olds by mistake.)
