movin to cali?

Since there has been such a large surge of growing in the state of California, my brother-in-law has decided it's time for him to go as well. He's grown a few crops but is really excited about the possibility of doing it legally. He claims that he could get a medical card if he got there, and could continue growing for himself then. I guess my question is what are your thoughts on this? I commend him for doing so, it sounds really fun and from the articles in CC magazine, there's lots of trimming work to be found for free to get started and connected to some good growers out there. Is the scene out there legit, is it really as great as it sounds? Thoughts please.

Stoner looking for the promised land.

theres definitely business to be had. legitimacy, im not so sure. federally, its still fully illegal to grow so theres always a risk of federal raids especially on large operations. (though they are supposed to have been halted) Places like humbolt are pretty much giant weed growing counties where its the norm to grow.

^Mmmm, Humbolt...one of the wonderous 3 corners of The Emerald Triangle.

Also, I believe it would be foolish of your brother to just pack everything up and move out here on a whim just to be in the mmj business. He really needs to know people in Cali, visit Cali and get familiar with the scene...THE LOCAL LAW and how things in general work...actually talk to people in the business. It's not something to take lightly, he should really do his own research...which includes a visit...or a couple...to California before making any soild decisions.

Please don't come here unprepared, California is full of people who came to find paradise only to be hit square in the face with reality, know what you're going to do if it doesn't work out first.

As far as Oaksterdam is concerned, they're not going to teach you anything you can't learn on your own, for free, if you're willing to take the time. They do good things for sure, but I would be leery of shelling out good money to someone when the rules aren't really well established just yet, everything you paid alot to learn today might be wrong tomorrow. Its just too soon.

Honestly, I'd advise him to look into maybe CO, OR, or WA, states that are just recently allowing business to start.

Here's a great article you can pass along to him if you'd like.

Denver News - Ganjapreneurs are cashing in on Colorado's booming medical pot business - page 1

don't come to colorado! ok, maybe that is a good option too. don't move to cali. I was thinking about it too but then I realized if I lived there where would I go for vacation?

there's SO MANY "businesses" here. they are EVERYWHERE! I found a new clinic as I was driving home from work today. They have weed leaves on their store sign that lights up. lol
