Oh man, this is memory lane city!!
I've been tokin weed now for 40 yrs...no breaks whatsoever. I was lucky to have been in the workforce before piss-testing became as common as signing your name. I'm now retired, so it doesn't matter.
My wife & I were married in 1988, after having lived together for 5 yrs previously. We both were total wastoids -- drinking & toking daily until passing-out. I had a pal who was an oceanographer & would be 5 weeks out-to-sea & then 5 weeks home. He'd always bring a shitload of cocaine back as well. We were definitely living the high-life...but then soon discovered that coke is a dead-end street & gave that shit up.
We had a son in 1991 & my wife quit weed [among other things] for her pregnancy. She never restarted, but I kept tokin. When my son was young, I kept weed outta the picture. Then when he hit 16, I just quit hiding it. My son has no interest [& he's now 18+] in any substances. No booze, no cigs, no dope...but he loves the way I get when ripped...& my friends when stoned. He says he loves hanging out with stoners, as they're so mellow & relaxed. He doesn't care for drinkers, as he says they always cop an attitude. Plus hates tobacco smokers because of the stink [my wife & I are both reformed smokers...quit over a yr ago].
But I feel that now that he's 18, he can decide for himself. I still keep my tokin in my 'office', as not to aroma the home...but now I no longer keep it on the down-low with my son.
I'd much rather see him toke weed than drink booze or smoke cigs...but he's 18 & can make-up his own mind.

hello im here because im on disability. igot hurt at work lifting a compressor for a freezer system. i do or should i say did HVAC and refrigeration on comercial systems. now im limited to lifting 10lbs.. i had a spinal fussion due to a fractured vetebre. it was a 7 hour surgery and was in beth israel hospital in boston for 6 days following the surgery. i coulnn,t walk afterward for like 2 weeks. it takes 12 months to recover. i'll never be able to do HVAC again its to physical.
i don't start physical therapy for another four months.
im doing walking at the pool at the YMCA because water takes away my gravity. i also am on an electrical stimulator the makes my back muscles expand and contract every 5 seconds. but i only get 60% of my pay and have a morgtage and 2 kids and a car payment. im late on every bill now and a month behind in the morgtage. im having anxiety attacks now and on medicine for that now plus they put me on anti-depressants.
i know theres people out there worse off than me so i still count my blessings.
i have 2 beautiful healthy children and a very supportive and best friend my wife. i don'know what i'd do w/ out them. they keep me going.
antway didnt mean to get all emotional on you guys but just wanted to say hello and peace to all

Welcome to Yahooka, I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but it sounds like you are wading through it slowly. Guidence and Support Forum is full of loving people who will listen, talk and give advice as you'd like. But certainly enjoy Yahooka. Hope to see you around.

I love your description of this place! It is encouraging that places like this still exist. I know sometimes when I look around at where I live, it's like "Where have all the cool people gone...?". Turns out they're all inside smokin pot and postin on yahooka.
Oh and traps don't scare this mouse...

I am also just embarking on the journey that is parenting. And so far herb hasn't been too bad in our relationship, and I'm trying to keep it cool and low-key, as mentioned above, very helpfully, by Jimmy and Mr O.

Sully, I'd like to extend my welcome to YaHooka!! You've been thru a lot of physical & mental pain with that accident. I also injured myself at work & fucked my back up...but I opted out of surgery. I think you got more injured than myself. I ruptured 2 discs in my back & now have spinal-stenosis. Thank goodness I did it at work, though.
I've been going to the Pain Clinic where I live for the past 9 yrs & the doc there is super cool. Has me on Methadone & has no problem with my weed-smoking. I have to be piss-tested annually, but it's mainly to see that I take my medicine & not sell it. I told doc that the piss-test will be hot for THC & he told me that if it DIDN'T show THC in my system, that's when he'd be worried about me. He said that if this State ever went 'medical MJ', he'd scrip me out in a NY minute!! But I live in the heart of the Bible-Belt & getting this State to go 'medical MJ'? We'd be 1 of the last to see the light.
I hope you're getting Workmen's Comp [I received it for 5 yrs & we settled for a nice chunk-of-change]. Now I'm getting Social Security Disability, but from the initial telephone interview to the 1st check was 2 yrs & 1 month, so I definitely know the dilemna you're in.
You might already know all this, but get yourself a good Disability attorney. They'll work with no retainer from you, but they'll take 25% of your SSD back-pay....but it's well worth it for legal representation. 95% of all Disability claims are initially rejected, so having an attorney appealling the case is the way-to-go.
Anyhow, best of luck on your physical therapy & recovery from your operation. There's nothing better than having a family to help you thru everything.

thanks for the support zoltron. you had to go through all this bullshit too. man its very depressing especially for my kids because i played soccer and ice hockey with my daughter and my son i played baseball. at least i can still bring him to the batting cages.
my wife does all the yardwork and taking over doing physical things around the house. it really sucks sitting around helpless
i have a good lawyer, and he is telling me its going to drag on because the longer it goes on, the more $ the insurance company's lawyer gets.
thats why they drag on for years. but i get my check every monday in the mail. as long as the insurance co. does that it will keep dragging. i get a check for $338.62 a week and my morgtage is $2004.00. so foreclosure isnt far away. going back to renting.
you take care dude. ill be talking to you.

FYI, to anyone this may help... I went through the disability nightmare too. I was put on a list that was 18 months long just to start the appeal process for my corrupt initial turn-down. I went to my Congresswoman, Elizabeth Dole. I didn't expect a republican to help me much but she did. I plead my case to her people, they called the SSA and got me "dire-need status." I though "okay maybe I'll get lucky and get in within a year." I got a letter confirming my status and was in court within 60 days. My disability lawyer was good according to most and she did not even know such a move was possible. When in doubt, see what your state politicians can do--that's the second time I was pleasantly surprised by such.
