Heart attacks/Bypass surgery.

Well i am finally getting back on my feet after having a series of heart attacks and having 5 bypasses. Still sore from being split open in my chest, but healing fairly well though..

Stayed in the hospital from oct 24th to the 30th. I am still hoping to get back to work in the next week or so.. I know I will only be able to do light work and such, but hell I can l;et my guys do everything and i can just make sure they are doing shit right...

I am damn lucky to be alive.. I was having heart attacks all day long some days before i went to the dr.

Any one else had bypass surgery or know others who have?

Amazing how fast the recovery is from heart surgery, my wife used to nurse on the cardio-thoracic unit, she had guys like you out of bed in no time. Glad you didnt die mate.

To many days of being driven hard and put up wet.. LOL

Doc says genetics are working to kill me.. Not eating right, not enough exercise, and stress is just making me dead faster.

I had my surgery at St. Thomas hospital on friday oct 26, and let out tuesday oct 30.. Even the nurse said I was quick to get moving...

I feel good though.. Gotta go see dr Jantz at WMC on the 21st.

Well, I'm VERY glad you're okay. My dad did a triple 11-12 years ago, and he's still kicking and screaming. He eats better than he did (Less cholesterol, less transfat, all that). It was scary, being there in the waiting room as he went through it. He was all hooked up to the heart monitor when they took him in, and you could see his rate go up when they came for him. Scared me, too. That chest cracking is no fucking joke.

Just do good and take care of yourself. BTW, I'm more than happy to talk to you about vegetarianism / veganism. Sounds worse than it is, and there are people who have reversed their heart disease by switching their diets. I know it's a shameless plug, but it's a shameless plug that can make your life better, and there's no shame in that kind of shamelessness.

Rev does your vegetarian foods includes fruits?

If so i'd say my diet is close to yours.. I do get the occasional burger or steak once a week though..

I'm taking much better care of myself than i used to.. I am going to slow down and also eat right.. One thing th dietitian brought to my attention was, even though we eat three meals a day, our bodies can forget how to handle the foods if we eat at irregular times or over eat a times.. This is more of a reason for having troubles than what you eat itself.

Its good to hear your taking care of yourself. Daily exercise can make you feel a world apart too if your not too active yet.

My mom just had a bypass Tuesday the 13th. I was unaware of her health condition - because of her, my brothers - probably the three of them. I guess I would make things worse if I knew. That's my conclusion. My brother told me today she's still in ICU but they are looking to have her in her own room by Friday. Maybe home Saturday. My feelings are don't push it, she's diabetic and needs extra recovery time. Again, what would I know?

Lifestyle change is a must.. My body already feels like it's on another road from how i used to eat and exercise..

Got a lot more changes to make and still keep my sanity..

the hardest thing about this whole deal, is being bored to tears. I should be turned loose to start driving soon... This will give me some more freedom to go places and irritate others.. LOL
