Apartment heatz0rz?
So I just got an apartment (just got the keys yesterday). I'm unaware if it's smoking or non-smoking, but I frequently see people smoking outside of the building in -40C weather, so I assume that it's probably the latter and not the former. I don't mind smoking my ciggies outside, as it does encourage less smoking (I'm a lazy ass), I'm a pretty regular pot smoker though, and not willing to do all of it outside.
What I'm wondering is; how sketchy is it to smoking pot in a non-smoking apartment? My apartment is in the basement (there's only one other apartment down there), there's about a quarter inch gap between the floor and the base of the doors (there are two, one connected to the laundry room and the other connected to the "basement" with a stairway leading up to the front door and other apartments). This will be my first time living away from home, and my first time smoking in a non-smoking apartment, so I really don't know if I'm putting my lease at risk by smoking weed in the apartment... Suggestions, advice, anything would help... bongsmilie |

well I say go ahead and toke it up.
But don't take any risks. are there any windows, even small ones, in your apartment? just use a fan for the smoke whenever you're blazin, and lock a door so no one comes bustin in unexpected... your lease won't be threatened if you never get caught.

I'm in a non-smoking dorm room but I blaze anyways inside. If you do all the tricks to not get caught I bet you'll be good. It'll at the very least be tons easier than not getting caught at say your parents' house.
Do you have a written lease agreement? Is there anything in there about smoking in the apartment? That's the first place to check and it should outline any expectations they have of you and any penalties they can impose if you don't follow their rules. Next time u see one of your new neighbours puffing outside why don't u just go up and start talking to them. I'm sure you can work into the convo something about whether or not smoking is allowed inside without looking too dumb. Finally, IMO the smell of weed smoke does not hang in the air (or absorb into fabrics) anywhere NEAR as much as tobacco smoke does. Thus, I'd say blaze inside but be very very careful to smoke cigs inside if it's not allowed. Cheers to the new place! Hope you have a mean housewarming party

^ I smoked in my dorm room too, it was pretty easy. Febreeze, and a big window helped alot.
Try and get a feel for the other tenant(s) in the basement and if they seem cool, go ahead. If not, and you'd feel uncomfortable possibly pissing someone off slightly (it's pretty unlikely they'd rat you out to the super before talking to you about it first) then take the regular preventative measures (towel, febreeze, etc.). |
