Well, some keep saying that Mac notebooks prices aren't justified when comparing them to much cheaper books and lose any credibility by naively negating the best commercial software that is OSX. Well my elcheapo heros, how about comparing other high end notebooks in the MBPs class/price range/specs and see what you get feature for feature
- but the fact you will probably still be using Windows which is one strike right there. I could put together a huge brick that was "supposedly" a portable (yeah, right) that was lacking may features, call it a laptop/"portable) and give it insane specs close to or barely above a MBP that kicked ass and no one would want to it (see Alienware) except rich kids who want the ultimate portable gaming machine that is rarely moved. But again, it is ONLY sensible to compare high end notebooks to the MBPs that are under 6lbs in the MBPs class and see what you get as opposed to Alienware gaming rigs. Be sure to include all the spesc when you compare so we know what the deal is. I know, why bother since you wouldn't be able to afford any of these machines that are Winows as well either, right? Lets take a step even further - lets compare the ALL MIGHTY Mac Pro (top of the line) to anything out there in terms of prices range/class and specs, and so on and see how they rate. Crunch, chruch, bye, bye Face it, you lose again.

Nah. We're living in the real world where not buying a Mac makes us the winners.

he already has. the right one too. Posted about on one of them Mac fanboy forums, he was bragging about it and all on here too...
![]() The funny part is he posted that twice, i guess the edit feature isn't OSX compatible... ![]() And then he asked us to compare Apples top of the line MacBook pro to anyting else on the market in terms of price and features... Lets see...the 17" MacBook Pro as offered on the Canadian Market with 2gb of ram, 2.5ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 250GB 5400RPM drive sells for $2899CND the 17" Dell XPS with a 200GB 7200RPM, the Intel 2.8GHZ Core 2 Extreme and 4GB of DDR2 667 ram sells for $2849. To get the MacBook air up to those standards it would cost a little under $4000CND...like $2.03 under $4000 and that would only get it up to 2.6GHZ IC2D as it's not offered in the 2.8GHZ variety. So using apples own specs i have again shown that they do not use the highest performance parts. And if we are to include all of the useful features of each one, such as expandability, connectivity apple would lose by 4. lit up keyboard is not a useful feature in a professional environment and is in fact a security risk, so i didn't count it. Also considering that it uses substandard parts like a 5400 RPM drive makes it lose points.

And you continue to focus on just the MBP, which is considered by most reviewers as best laptop ever made. At the same time you continue to avoid the fact that a MacBook will crush anything out there priced similary - why?

THE BEST laptop outright now isn't even built around an Intel cpu, so move on. And by the way those Alien ware systems and the other "heavy" systems you bitch about are what is needed to do such things as professional video and audio editing. Tell me why is it that professionals working with programs such as CAD are using Windows and in some cases Linux. Tell me why is it that companies like Autodesk are refusing to put their software out on the Mac market and why companies like Alias and Pixar use Windows and Linux servers/clusters to do their work? Why is it that you still keep on trying when even Steve Jobs knows the limits of his system so he doesn't use it for actual work?

Jesus H. Christ Shit on a Shingle you two should just get a ring, sell some tickets and put it on Pay Per View.
Well - he's NEVER going to listen to you. ILove - You're a jackass for all your supposed education you just won't listen to reason and continue to beat a dead horse. Get over it already. You like Wintel, we like OSX - We're not changing, neither are you. Go figure. Immovable object meet unstoppable force. End of thread. |

The top of the line MPB right now is a whole as shipped by Apple with the additional upgrade is a whole 200mhz behind the non apple set Intel PC's. I won't even bother comparing any intel to the Quad Core AMD laptops and desktops that are shipping. To use your line of reason; You are trying to argue that,a Ferrari kit car, powered by a VW bug engine (The MPB) is somehow a better vehicle than a Porsche with an actual Porsche engine. So now that i looked at your link answer some of my questions, why does Steve Jobs still use Windows/Linux infrastructure at Pixar if apple is so much better?

No, I can afford one but it doesn't meet my needs. My 12" PowerBook connected to to a 20" Dell monitor with webcam compliments my MacBook Pro more than fine.

And Linux has come a way but to say its on par with OSX and is ready for main stream/prime time proves you are delusional. What do you think, Apple is now done developing OSX and Linux will keep moving forward? OSX is leaps and bounds above Linux and Steve would never allow that community to gain an edge. Too many brilliant people working for Apple to let that happen (same with Winblows)/
