M. Night Shyamalan's First "R" Rated Movie

How about his first good movie since the sixth sense? Or signs, it was alright. what a stupid way to advertise the happening though. wasn't he kind of credited for creating legitimate scary scenes in PG13 movies..

Shyamalan could have ruined paul giamatti with that lady in the water shit. hopefully he won't cancel out walberg in the departed.

I disagree. I think its a great advertisement. There is a serious deficiency of good R rated movies these days, especially in the horror/thriller genre.

I dig shamalan. The Village was probably his worst, but signs and the sixth sense were great.

Signs made no sense to me, speaking of shyamalan...aliens who can be killed easily by water can resist the natural humidity in the atmosphere. I dont understand the world anymore.

One bright morning in the middle of the night two dead fellows stood up to fight.
They stood back to back, facing each other, drew their swords and shot each other.
If you don't believe my lie, it's true, ask the blind lady on the corner, she saw it too.

All the reviews that I have read thus far have pointedly stated that The Happening SUCKS. I won't waste any money on it, that's for sure, especially after Signs and The Village. Didn't bother with Lady in the Water, though I'm sure I'll check it out eventually.

He's made one really good movie and one decent movie, but he's working in a genre where imagination and execution go part-in-parcel, and Shamalyan rarely infuses his films with both. His twists are tepid at best, and his characters are the lowest common denominator of "normal" folks, i.e. people who's lives you really don't care about at all, therefore what happens to them in a genre film is meaningless, because you don't care anyway.

Oh and the "Happening?" I know what the story is already...scroll down if you wanna be spoiled...

I like his movies but I dont expect them to scare me I like looking for the twist. I liked lady in the water Yes I thought it was stupid but it was entertaining I will probably catch the happening at the dollar movie......cheapest way to determine if a movie is anygood without blowing money 50 cent matinees.

Yeah I don't like m. night shyamalalaman's work at all, Sixth Sense was OK and that's about it. The Village was just AWFUL, the ending ruined the whole movie which wasn't very good up untill that point anyhow. I absolutely loved how South Park made fun of him.

Ok, so I just saw this movie, and holy shit was it stupid. M Night sucks. A word of advise, Mr Shyamalan... stop making such a big deal about how you directed, wrote, and produced it. Put the fucking janitors name on it and run far away from this piece of shit. If i made this movie I'd be to ashamed to go to the premiere.

Literally everyone from my group of friends, to people sitting around us were laughing at this movie and all the stupid scenes that made it up. This movie was so ridiculously stupid.

The plot? stupid. Most of the dialogue... stupid. The ending... stupid. There was not a single scary scene, and it could have been rated PG13. In fact, don't even rate it.. just release it straight to VHS. "i dont have a tape player anymore though". Exactly.

shymalans movies are generally ok, but nothing special. IMO his movies best to worst go - Unbreakable, The 6th sense, Lady In The Water, Signs, The Village. ive not seen The Happening,, but that sounds hella gay.
