Wow. That movie was really really bad. Heath Ledger killed himself over that piece of garbage? It was too long. There were too many plot holes. The editing sucked. The acting was non-existent from Bale, one of my fav actors of all time. Maggie Gyllenhal is a dog. The plot was very contrived. They tried to do too much and failed miserably on all counts.

The Joker was the only decent thing in the whole movie and even that character wasnt all that great.

So much hype for naught.

Avoid it. I give it one and a half stars.

Let me go into some more detail. Potential spoilers though

From the very beginning of the movie I disliked it. Let me start with one of the biggest problems...terrible editing. The first hour of the movie fails to develop any type of flow. There is way too many quick shots and cuts to different scenes. It felt like they were just cramming things in and not giving each scene enough time to develop and get some momentum going. They really didnt have any choice I guess though, the movie was two and a half hours. They would have needed over three to fix that and three hour movies tend to suck anyway. Poor planning and writing and directing to try and pull off so much in a single movie.

Another huge problem with the movie is that everything felt very forced. You have to literally suspend you belief in logic and reality to buy some of what goes on. In that respect it reminded me of those shitty batmans along the lines of Batman and Robin.

For example, after the bank robbery and the joker pulls into traffic on the school bus, he just so happens to fall in line with about 10 other school buses all driving down the same streat in unison. And that car chase with the rocket launcher? Was the joker hitting the truck at just the right spot to flip the truck over and not kill anyone so Gordon could come out of nowhere to get the joker? Thats a nice coincidence. What about that whole thing with harvey dent pretending to be batman? Was that planned? Was it spontanious? wtf. It made no sense. It was like Oceans 13 or something where there are so many uncertain variables in their plan and it just so happens that everything works out and everyone is in the right place. Thats poor writing. Batman Begins didnt have issues like this.

What about that part where batman jumps out the window to save Rachel and they land on the ground and she says "dont do that again". The scene then cuts to the next day and Harvey walks into his office. He left the joker up there in his party and Harvey Dent was safe somehow. Where did he go? How/why was he safe? When batman jumped out the window and left the Joker back up at the party what did he do? Did he just leave? They left us hanging again.

And the Joker. Yeah, heath ledger did a good job. he was no nickleson though. He certainly wasnt as creepy as ppl made him out to be. He certainly wasnt so dark that Ledger couldnt sleep and ended up ODing over it. Thats absurd. Ill give him credit though. I had a couple laughs from his mannerisms or what he said. maybe like 3 or 4. Thats not something to write home about though. And the whole joker character kinda sucked honestly. He really didnt even play jokes on people. He just kind of confused them.

The whole movie felt straight up forced. There were so many more thing I disliked.

I pretty much hated the movie up untill the joker got arrested for the first time. The last hour was decent so thats kinda made it a little better of a movie

Oh god, and that stupid cell phone spying thing? Batman begins was cool because you saw how batman went from a normal person to a superhero but coming up with cool tech and making military hardware pretty useful. The gadgets and shit he had this time around were just too much. Too stupid.

Christofer Nolen or whatever really fucking blew it with this movie. Pretty much all the things that made Batman Begins awesome werent in this one.

my best friend saw it yesterday and said it was one of the best films he has ever seen, and certainly the best action movie he's ever seen.

First of all your friend is wrong the best action movie is the terminator lol
but anyway i suspected this movie would be shit the previews look like another hyped up superhero movie that in the end will deliver shitty Ledgers joker seemed to lack the wacky humor that came with Nicholsons joker and he seemed to be all to dark and depressing and not goofy like you would expect from someone named the joker
That being said i will still go see this film because im a huge fan of the two Burton films and always have been since i can remember
But i have to say i hated batman begins Everybody seems to love the movie because it gets more into bruce wayne and how batman came to be
thats great and all but the movie was not entertaining at all the first hour was boring as shit then when batman finally appeared there was nothing appealing about him he was nothing like keatons caped crusader who was a cool dark batman that gets you rooting for him from the start
Also Bale really went to into an emotional type of Bruce Wayne that i didnt buy keatons wayne was alot more relateable he seemed like an ordinary guy but at the same time you could feel that he has his demons
All in all batman begins sucked to boring, alot of cheesy lines, fight scenes where to fast paced you could barely see what was going on, the enviorment and musical score braught no emotion
the only thing it had going for it was that it told the story of how batman came to be which doesnt make it a great film
I think Burtons batman made you use your imagination as to how he became to be (instead of having it handed to you with someone saying well this is how it happened) which i perfer
And as far as the realism most people say beigns is more realistic but im sorry a tank like batmobile hopping rooftops and a hallucinogen that makes only bad guys seem scary is far from realistic
That being said the dark knight will probley blow ass but of course im gonna go see it just because i love The original

it has a 94% rating at RT, a top critic rating of 90%, EVERYONE i know that saw it yesterday told me it was amazing.

im going to go with the people that actually know what they're talking about and say the majority of people will enjoy this movie. glad to know you didnt enjoy it. and thanks for the novel-sized review, you obviously put some time into that one despite completely hating the movie...

How about someone thats seen the movie come here and debate it with me. The movie was garbage. I thought it looked good too. It's a huge dissapointment....un less you're one of those people who just likes going along with the crowd and will eat up any slop that hollywood gives you. It's ok though, lots of people get pwnt by hollywood marketing. It doesnt make you any less of a man.

Dub coming from someone who puts norbit and blue streak into their top 10 films and then talking about eating up anything hollywood gives you, I can't take your opinion of this film seriously.
