Win 7 is free if you already have vista, it's $30 for college kids [or adults who can fake a .edu email address] for those with XP and/or vista.

Last time I checked, yes.
But I checked again because you asked, and apparently they've changed the rules a bit.
Now it's free if you purchased a new Vista license on or after July 1 2009, and it has to be above Vista Home Basic [i.e. Home Premium, Business and Ultimate].
Still, $30 isn't too bad either.

I just found out that if your a student some schools have contracts with microsoft. So if your in a computer or technology related course your professor can send out and get students a ton of free Microsoft soft-ware. Anything ranging from Windows 7 to Dream-weaver.
