Eve

Is anyone here at Yahooka playing this?

EVE Online - a massive multiplayer online roleplaying space game - MMORPG

I just downloaded it for a 2 week trial.

I played Eve about three years ago for a little while.

I LOVED it...then after a couple days I realized that it was going to require WAY too much investment and time and general knowledge and research to enjoy at higher levels so I stopped. Cool concept, but it feels like less of a "game" the more you play it and more of a "job."

I agree with the both of you. It's quite a game, but I can already see where a huge investment in time will only increase. Seems like WOW in space.
Thanks for the response.

I was thinking about this thread when I was out today and thought it deserved a second post...

I didn't mean to be a party pooper, which might have been the unintentional tone of my OP. The game is a LOT of fun, I just personally didn't have the energy or time to get past the "fun, but I won't keep playing" phase.

If you are looking for a truly immersive player-driven universe, Eve is far and away the best of the best (STILL!) on the market.
keep playing for your two week trial and see where you fall on the spectrum. I'm not sure if the recent expansion/patches make it easier for noobs to get into the high end action, or if it's still as daunting as it used to be.

Right on.

The reality is that your post really cleared things up for me.
It is a cool game.
It's a lot like WOW to me.
In a very short amount of time, I began spending an 'Intervention' amount of time on WOW...
I can't free up that much time for a game like EVE.
Not right now.

The only thing similar about WoW and EvE is they are both played online. EvE is a sandbox mmo with probably the best economy of any mmo. The EvE universe is gigantic compared to WoW and everyone plays on the same server. Its definitely more slow paced and tactical and has a harsh death penalty unlike wow's theme park hand holding quest/level system. Definitely an awesome game, I would have kept with it instead of WoW if my macbook could have handled it.

Well, no fuckin' shit, Fucker....I was talking about how EvE has an even greater potential to 'crack hook' me like WOW did.

I can't handle that, man.

And here you come talking about 'If WOW was an Intel QX9000, EVE would be the Ultramegasupreme Tera(3.14), and when you die, this fist comes out of the screen and smashes your face....'

You might of just pushed me over the edge.
