Hooking your comp to a TV

how can you hook a macbook or an imac up to a tv?

is there a simple way to just output the video to the Tv screen?

i have no idea about the inner workings of a mac. do they have video cards? if so look at what outputs the card has. if not, look around where your monitor plugs in and see if it might have video or s-video output.

I have not done this myself, ( I am PC) but I heard there is a Mini DVI to DVI Adapter you can use to do this.

That will be video only so you can play sound through the macs speakers or get the other cables to hook your audio out to your tv also.

Damn, that thing has like no ports at all, doesn't even have an S-Video port.

If you got an HDTV, most modern ones have VGA ports [the blue monitor cable] where, taking Stash's idea, you'd do a mini-DVI adapter to a DVI-VGA cable and attach to the TV. That's if you want to get the highest resolution. otherwise you'd also have to get a converter box and connect RCA or S-video.

The main ways to tie a comp to a TV are: RCA [Red, White and Yellow cables], S-Video, VGA/DVI, or HDMI. So, unless you wanna buy a whole bunch of adapters and cables, you're pretty much SOL.
