Battlestar Galactica: The Plan

I just finished watching this, and it's a nice addition with flashbacks, new scenes added to the flashbacks, and heaps of backstory revelations.

*****Some Spoilers below*****

Apollo never shows up.

Neither does the President.

-There is a scene early on when Caprica is surrounded by Base Stars and the bombs drop and you see the moment when the 'pulse scan' hits the human fleet leaving it defenseless from the Cylon point of view.

-Cavil has a major role in the film. His character is developed with such vigor that I found myself loathing him.

-Throughout the movie, he encounters all the Cylons and in some instances literally orders them to sacrifice themselves.

-The Doctor Cylon deals with trying to let go of his 'humanity' by killing himself after Cavil tells him to blow the ship up he is living on, and to NOT let his wife and her daughter survive. 'That way they won't know you're a Cylon'.....creepy.

-Cavil airlocks a Six with grave disregard, but it pales in comparison to a human child that attaches himself to Cavil, who ultimately murders him.

-Unfortunately, as the plan develops, it has one setback and train wreck after the other. It's comedic and disturbing watching Cavil come to his final observations.

It was a huge let down in my opinion. It was cool to see more battlestar, but really i was hoping for new material. This brought almost nothing new to the table at all, at least not anything important. Alot of the footage is re-used old footage to give a context of where the storyline is at the current time. But the "new" stuff mostly only showed you things you could have figured out yourself.

In my opinion this movie had none of its own originality, it just filled in a few blanks and didn't reveal anything new or interesting in the story. Basically it was like a BSG Trivia answer guide at best.

Had they shown cylon life before the attack on the colonies, or even more of the cylon perspective during the hunt for galactica(rather than cylon perspective on galactica) i would have enjoyed it.

There was a few interesting side stories, such as one of the simons family life with a human. And Some interesting stuff relating to Anders time on caprica. While these are interesting, they really don't change or impact the main storyline of the show.

Personally what i would really enjoy is a movie depicting the life of the final five on earth and how they gave the centurion cylons human like bodies. And cavils attack on there world. I will have to get the BSG: Final Five comic in hopes it tells more of that story.
