Where to find musicians?
For the past month or so, my guitarist and I have been trying to find a good bassist which seems to be harder than finding a needle in a hay stack. We auditioned 2 dudes who were both mediocre (at best). We were gonna give the first dude the part cuz he didn't suck as bad as the second one but apparently he's his GF's bitch and she didn't want him to be in a band with a badass chick like myself. To make a long story shorter...we're screwed...and we wanna start playing shows by August so I need you guys to help me with good websites where I can find a good bassist and possibly drummer. How did you meet the other musicians in your band (assuming you're in one)?

Craigslist and Musolist are two sites I tried but it seems like everyone we auditioned from there was too green. We're very big on doing extended improvisational jams and no matter how much the people we've auditioned boast about their skill, they can't keep up with us. Everyone and their grandma have access to posting adds so I'll try calling some music schools to see if they can recommend anyone and visit some bars/cafes...

This isn't a website, but still an idea that might work. Every time I make a trip to my favorite headshop, I see little wanted posters for bassists, drummers, or whatever the bands who posted them were in need of at the time. It seems like a decent method. Also, my little brother works at a guitar shop and I've noticed a lot of the same thing there. One of his co-workers even put together an entire band that way. They always mention on the signs what kind of music they play so that you won't get any Garth Brooks look-alikes trying to audition for your rock group. Might be worth a try. Good luck! I'll come and see you in concert and have you autograph my titty some day!!
