having a physical piece of equipment always os better
a) sound quality
b) having physical control (especially with things like the buchla and moogs, electronica type instruments) is much better because you can do anything and everything spontaniously, without having to click click click experiment wait to load, its all as you go you create, allows a lot more creativity

m0rb1d, you ever thought of building your own custom synth? with companies like PAiA and doepfer, you could build a (relatively) inexpensive bad-ass analog synth, and it could have just the things you would like on a synth, such as certain oscillators, filters, midi, ect...
always wanted to make my own, just dont have the time or $ to do so.
and werd. its all about the sonics when it comes to analog synths. software/samples/romplers just cant match the real thing (but they come pretty close).

nothing wrong with the rawness of a four track. plus, you can record almost anywhere and get the vibe of your surroundings to come through the music.

eventually i will. the moog will serve as the most badass midi controller of all time then
the only reason im not now is because my roommate and bandmate is gonna build an awesome eurorack modular in the very near future. and because im still trying to understand modulars heh. hopefully someday i can build a buchla 200e, i only need like 10gs
