Pearl Jam WTF?

I do believe that Pearl Jam just release an album for Target and Itunes. This is not Eddie Vedder style at all. Does any one else know what the deal is?

you act like they havent been a corporate rock band ever since they were blasted by nirvana (also a corporate rock band) in the 90s for being a corporate rock band

They're fresh out of a nearly 20 year relationship with Sony. They're testing the waters and seeing what works.

... just because they are on a major label does not mean they are "corporate" I am just confused on selling yourself to one major retailer. and the new single is definitely tight. Just the whole target thing is kind of weird. and I'm listening to one of my most favorite viffs from McCready, "You are" off Riot Act

then how exactly do you define "corporate" in the context of a rock band?

im not implying the term as a negative thing. they make great music. as far as rock music goes theres two major camps. indie and corporate. pearl jam joined the latter many years ago.

ticketmaster is a whole different corporation than the record labels, and i applaud what they do there but i also see the real motivation. the reality is that they make money from their shows, the more money goes in the pockets of the people running those shows the less money goes in eddie vedders bank account. its plain logical for them to be fighting that cause.

again not trying to diss them, i love pearl jam

I would have to phrase if differently... Major or independent labels.
I just find if odd for someone like Pearl Jam more or less Eddie Vedder, who has been quite out-spoken over the evils of Capitalism to only release their album to two MAJOR companies.
