keep in mind that the quality of light deteriorates as it moves further from the bulb, the process starts a few inches from the bulb, light further than 2-4 ft is pretty useless imo

ok so after doing some more reading on the scroging and flowering... ill probably start my 12/12 cycle on day 21 hopefully they will flower. im guessing they will be around six inches tall at this point and if they triple in size while flowering this will bring me to two feet, whitch is about perfect for this unit...

so i failed today trying to find a screen... not sure wther to get a metal screen or a plastic one. i tried to make one out of hangers and failed there too.
ill probably go to the hardware store again tommorow. ill pick up some flat white paint and paint the inside of my closet. looks like im gonna have to custom a screen if i want it for this cabinet. i have a few ideas but if anyone has an easy solution im all ears. |

day 20
as far as a string grid goes im not sure. but i saw something at the hardware depot that i can modify slightly and should work.
they are getting pretty big and upon checking the root sytems found that they are getting to the point where they are almost tangled. that said im starting my 12/12 light cycle today. ill purchase the screen later and install it first thing tommorow. should i veg them for another week if i install the screen? also i have bought two 100 watt florecent bulbs to help with side lighting as the plants start to flower and get bushier. getting pretty full ![]() ![]() all about 3 1/2 - 4" tall

obvious space questions and concerns...
so id say that the roots are running out of space... they are at the point where they are going to get tangled. as stated b4 i knew this would happen and that i would have to get down to 3 or 4 plants total. i really went with so many seedlings cause i thought my sucess rate was going to be low. i figured at least 3 or 4 would be duds.
so should i, force flowering now and try to determine sex and then eliminate the males? or should i just get rid of the two plants that have been less productive during the seedling / early veg stage and try to keep the more vigorous plants vegging for a week or two more? im leaning towards killing the smaller ones but i will take everyones advice into account. the two in the middle of the back row would be the victims, as the others have been doing well with undergrowth and node spacing. if i dont kill the two in back ill probably go for more of a sog effect instead of a scrog. im just afraid of running out of room in the tank for healthy roots. |

I would keep them all. The size difference isn't dramatic and they could be 2 females for all we know. Plus, personally, I'd rather deal with a SOG-like setup than a SCROG. It looks like your seed-stock has turned out to be good--it looks like you've got good consistency and vigor. I'm really interested to see what the overall yield will be like. Keep up the good work

Well, your picture says day 20. They should pre-flower (supposedly females about 1 day from now, and males in about 4 days--not ironclad). I would wait. If you aren't clearly able to pluck out any non-females by Saturday I would begin flowering and be watchful for pollen sacs. Whatever the result I would keep all possible females and flower as late as I seem to have space for.

yeah ive been keeping a pretty constant non direct breeze on them so they get hit from all directions with the air. i think this has helped... also ive been making sure to run my hands across the top of them once a day. been spraying them down with just tap water b4 i shut the lights off. also every other day i give them an extra hour of light in the morning and an extra hour at night. not the aerogarden lights but the two 100w lamps i have on each side.

I'd start them on 12/12 right now. You shouldn't want them to get to 29 inches. The light penetration won't get near that far. I use a 400 watter for 1plant and I keep her under 30 inches and still get small buds on the bottom.

On a side note, maybe you should add more lights. I have a socket splitter with another splitter in each--it started out as a simple clamp light. I put 4 of the 100 watt CFLs in (actual wattage: 96) and I hang it over and around any trailing ladies during veg--much the way Seemorebuds does his lighting. I had forgotten about penetration until 'Eric' mentioned it--you could probably surround some of that space without adding much heat. Just a thought.

speaking of extra lighting
i picked up these lights the other day and for now am just keeping them in lamps. id say this weekend im gonna clean the whole cabinet out and customize it some. i cant really hang them from the top as the aero has a hood. they were 2 for $8 i think i should go get more b4 the sale is over.

Nice picture. Doesn't look like they'll be short on light, at all. Those Aerogardens look to be much better functioning than I would have expected.
