neophye chronic logs
so guys im new to the whole deal. i live in a small apartment with limited storage. did a little looking around and thought id try the aerogarden. just figured with my limited space and lack of experience that this would be the way to go for now. if i need to upgrade i will. at worst in the end i imagine i can use it for clones. just using some seeds from the shit that i get on the regular. its not bad stuff and the seed content is only about 1 - 3 seeds per ounce. using the nutrients that came with the system. i only used one tablet for week 1 in fear that i could burn my plants. well today is day one. any positive suggestions will be appreciated. i will be posting the progress. thanks guys.

AeroGarden Pro 200 by AeroGrow thats a link to the unit i got i will have pictures as soon as i start to sprout. as far as ventalation i havent got that far jet just kinda winging it. i do have a fan that i will put in there and have some ideas for a carbon filtered sytem. i plan to actually custom build a cabinet and get some good seeds. but if this works i may not go that far. guess im just being a lazy pothead. It's run by CFLs with a fairly proprietory base.
Looks like a great setup for lowryder to me. They have them in the garden centres here. I'm glad you are taking the plunge rikb631, I am going to watch this grow for sure. I have seen plenty of talk about the setup and I think it would be great for a SoG or a small ScroG. |

ya i dont know what the seed genetics are but its a pretty good strain that i ge locally. im worried about asexual seeds. hopefully i wont have to deal with that. if so i will probably go with a seed bank. im pretty nervious to order though just dont know who you can trust these days.

A problem you might encounter is the plants' roots. The Aerogarden's reservoir is so small the roots will entangle in a very short time. If all your plants are female that is fine but if you have males and have to extract them, the root masses will suffer. Because the res is so small, you might get one plant to grow to any kind of potential but multiple plants, I think, will be a problem. Get some soil and start that way. Mt Aerogarden works great for growing herbs and salad veggies but I would not use it for cannabis. If you do intend on going through with it, get the more expensive Aero that allows the light to be extended higher; just my 2p. Good luck.

I once saw an article on growing in an aerogarden in hightimes.your gonna wanna flower them soon, like at 6" tall.with the limited amount of light your dealing with(cfl's) they won't flower as quickly or as strong as with the proper light source(hps/hid).also with the limited space you have, root trimming to control plant heigth is a consideration and a not so tricky alternative to having your plants outgrow the garden before they mature.you've got a pretty steep learning curve ahead of ya rikb631,but its do-able no doubt.ask plenty questions and don't try too hard(#1 noob mistake).nothing happens in a few hours or overnite.don't try to fix what aint broke.I wanna see ya smoke some good from yer first go.and remember,if its bagseed, for the most part what you grow will be better than the product you first smoked, mostly due to your true and generous care.smoke it like its legal,'Buz

I would scrap it and go with a waterfarm or two or a couple homemade versions. I would also order excellent seeds. To me it just seems like I want to maximize my result if I'm going to the time and risk to do it. That said, I would just go with the flower real soon advice (some strains probably can go immediately) and depending on your situation, look for low-odor varieties. I love this thing by Sweets called Psicodelicia but the smell of a single plant is just ridiculous. Good luck with your grow.

most homemade systems ive seen are pretty bulky. the reason i went for the aero was for the simple fact that its very compact. i smoke about a quarter a week and figure if i can get an ounce or two ill be happy. i have however done some research.... mostly watching you tube stuff on how to grow. i have to build something that will fit in a small place. i am working on it though. any suggestions on a compact carbon filter?

ok so i have some questions.how long do i greenhouse for? is it ok to stop the greenhouse if the plants are over 2" in height stems and roots look very healthy.
i had some algea but added a drop of peroxide and that has seemed to clear up. they reacted slightly when i added the peroxide as the fan leaves closed slighly and the stems turned white. it seems like after i went through a dark cycle they have recovered. since on my light cycles have been: 24 hours all light for friday and saturday 20 hours on and 4 hours off on sunday and monday. |

I would use "sunleaves" or index cards with holes for the algae. If you keep the light off the bare medium the algae will go away and stay there. I noticed that once the plants start using a decent amount of water the algae is a non-issue (I think the medium's surface isn't wet long enough.).
I used peroxide in the beginning to oxygenate the "water" and ward off disease. The literature seems 50-50 for and against it. I stopped after I ran out a couple grows into it and saw no difference without it. Just thought I'd add my input. |

so does anything look out of the ordinary?
should i trim the roots of the bigger plant? are the smaller plants ok? about 4 of them have darker stems than the others, is that a bad thing? or maybe its just a different kind. i am using a 16" fan on setting 1 really close to the plants. will this make them stronger? meaning will they stand better with constant wind on them? |
