Setting Up Lights

Is it recomended to instal a metal plating to the ceiling before hanging to lights so as to reduce the chance of fire? How much weight capacity is required to hold a 600 or 1000w light? Im talkin ur average HPS or MH, shit even HID.

man d ont worry about that, as long as you have anything to chain t he lights up with you'll be fine. as long as the fastener is strong enough to hold it. just screw into a stud and you'll be fine, and as for fire..your biggest issue is an electrical issue, so as long as wiring is done correct and safe there should be no issue.

^ Right. It's not like the heat of the lites can actually start a fire. When hanging your lite buy chains that are rated way above the lites weight so you'll have no worries.

So with a 6" air cooled hood runnn on a convertible 1000w ballast usin a hortiluz bulb how many plants would be suggested? Size of room is adjustable.

I don't know man, I've been a single plant grower from day 1. Never used anything bigger than a 400w.

Generally a square of 5x5 in 2 Gallon Pots is an efficient use of the lights reach . Any thing outside of that needs another bulb to the side. Kick em back at 8" and they finish off at just under 3'.

Bigger is always better but 2 gallon will support a root system for a plant about 2-1/2 - 3' tall. Of Course you can use bigger pots but then you will get less plants under the light. Also remember that after 3 feet a 1000w bulbs lumens have dropped off sharply and the plant gets very little useful light energy beyond that range so trying to grow a taller plant with only one bulb does not yield a preportionate amount of weed as on a shorter plant. You may get 1 oz off of the first 2 feet and only 1/2 oz. off of the last 2 feet if you go taller.

I see, and with the shorter plants no leafs will go un lighted and given the full ability to bud up. So lets say i grow skunk#1 about 2ft with 1000w an ounce a plant would be pretty simple?

Concentrate on growing to harvest before worrying about ozs. per watt and shit like that.
