setting up a grow room.

my dream of growing is finally coming true cause i have a place to grow now. I will be growing in a room in the back of my garage it wil be small...about 4' x 4'. i plan to clean it up and cover the walls with plastic pvc or something. I have a hps light that i'm tryin to buy from a friend but i dont know anything about it yet...waiting on him to call! Any ways I'm going to start off with some cfl's. I will also be growing in soil and plan to have from 2 to 4 plants if possible.

The things i'm not so sure about settin up my room is my air intake and exhaust. I know i need intake for the fresh air and i need exhaust for the smell and also exhaust for my hps light if i get it. can i run the intake from the room into the garage and it work alright or will it have to be run outside?
And does the exhaust have to run outside or can i run it into the garage? I plan to use a carbon filter for the exhaust. and i'm guessing that i need fans for both intake and exhaust?

looking for adivce on soil and nutrients also? i'v heard alot about fox farm soil or something like that?

other than that i think i'v got it figured out aside from what strain to pick! any and all help and advice is welcomed!

imo (and for such a small set up) you dont neceserally need an intake fan.

Just place the (passive) intake ducting right next to a window so it sucks fresh air. You need fresh air coming in your grow box. As much as you can. Plants love it and it always sorts out humidity issues, especially when in flower.

Its also advisable to vent all the hot + smelly air, outside of your grow area. Because recycling hot/humid air in the room will create problems especially in the summer when temps are high.

IMO-------the exhaust can be vented into the garage-------but the intake---------I'd get from outside~

i'v read the bible. it's been awhile but i read it. i'v looked into growing alot, just now have the place! the problem with the intake is that i dont have a window to use. the room is in my garage. and the garage is connected to my neighbors garage! it's a duplex. i would just run it outside but that would be either in the very front of my house or have ducting going across the garage... too obvious!

How about this? Find an AC......take only the cover and use that to camo the fact that yer using it to get outside air. It's all about illusions. Will elaborate if you think it can be done...
