best light cycle for my plant?

My plant started about a week ago, ive had it on 24 hour light since then
Ive heard its better to do 18/6? or 18/18?
Im not anything close to an expert but i grew previously with this light and transplanted them outside and it worked great(had them on 24 hr light before i transplanted)
So should i just keep it at 24 hour for now?

there is debate about this. i think its better for the plants to have at least some night time, but some growers disagree.
for using large hid lights, i always give them 4 hours off just for a cool down period.
