liberals in america
some of these people sit around for decades, lying in wait, for the perfect time to launch their proposals....
its pretty amazing, these liberals who want everything from a higher minimum wage to greater minority rights lie in wait, while the county shows its aversion to such notions for years at a time... and then, as soon as they get a glimpse of a chance, they are off and running, and they usually manage to make some pretty important changes in the process.... inevitably, though, they go too far, and speak a bit too harshly.... and then the conservatives take over for another X years.... what do u guys think ? |

No chance in hell. I dont get what the hell is so great about a minimum wage increase. Its nothing but a feel good way to get votes. Like I said a million times. The vast vast majority of minimum wage employees are people 15-25. Most of them are supported by their parents too. Get a job in the service industry, like just about anyone can, and your gonna be making more than 7 bucks an hour.

Are we talking about liberal, 'progressive', ideas or ideas that are supported by Democrats? This whole thread kinda gives me a headache with the lack of direction that it has - I figured as much from the thread title though. You can make much more moeny pan handling than working a pointless job for minimum wage. Minimum wage is kind of a moot point.
Both the conservatives nor liberals do anything for me. The stereotypes of them sux. You got the hypocritical conservatives thumpin about morality and family values while giving tax breaks to the rich and lowering pollution standards. The liberals are known for raising taxes and squandering it on doomed social programs aimed to help lazy ignorant fuckups. Its all about getting the votes from the hard working middle class while tricking them to vote against their interests. Conservatives hook them by promising not to give money to welfare moms who cant keep their legs closed. Meanwhile they pass laws that allow corporations to screw over the working man. Then the liberals hook the middle class by promising things like social security and other programs. That end up being nothing more than inefficient useless bureacracy thats runned by crooked polical cronies. In the meantime the economy is in the crapper cuz taxes were raised. |

its more like both parties take turns fucking shit up while the general population watches c-span and fox news and just shakes their heads. it seems to me that currently the dems are actually reaching out to the republicans and saying "we dont hate you- we need you to help us here" and the republicans are backing away like the crazy person backs away from the psychiatrist who is just looking to help. both parties are human, both parties take turns running the country. neither party has, or is designed, to stay in power only until it fucks up enough to give the other side a chance. that paints a pretty bleak picture of our government(which i admit isnt too pretty to start with).

There was a time traveller that once said that America will see a second civil war and it would be a result of actions that took place either this year or next, I can't remember for sure. It's been years since I read it. I of course didn't believe any of it but it's pretty interesting once you think about how clear the lines are being drawn between the way mr. bush and his croonies think the country should be and the way it actually should be.
In case you didn't notice, that statement was me drawing my line.
