Superdelegates

Do you agree with the concept? Why have them? Special people and special interests with specially weighted votes to affect the "democratic" outcome. I think it's a bunch of crap.

^Agreed. I understand what a superdelegate is but I don't understand why we need them.

Weren't superdelegates created as a survival mechanism. Made so that more electable moderates would run.

Not sure if thats true, and if it is it sucks, but whatever.

It's politics as usual actually, read up on the history of "superdelegates" and you'll see that it's far more complicated than you're making it. As with most political processes there are measure created to make the process of electing political representatives more balanced, and this concept was one of them created in the 70's.

This is just the first time that the superdelegates might actually determine a nomination, so the concept is getting quite a lot of publicity. The Dems have had them for several elections and there haven't been any issues before.
