from 17% uninsured to 4% in 10 years? That was not the plan I had in mind, if its for everyone and it passed, how about attending anyone who shows up tomorrow at a hospital and needs care? Keep a record and fix the balances throughout the 10 year, but the health care has to come now for all, not in little doses for some while others have to wait it out in pain...
Healthcare or no healthcare, reps or dems, coke or pepsi, its all the same shit, politics...

^ and ^^ - More proof that socialists want perfect utopia. As long as we all have to pay for it of course. Why don't the 2 of you use your own money to cover other people's medical expenses?
I understand you people with insurance who are against your tax money going to cure others(though that is very inhumane) because most of you also believe in free market, but this is not a free market, government and banks(the trunk of all commerce downward) are working together and exchanging seats every 4, it takes the free element out of the equation, we're living in an plutarchy(oligarchyX plutocracy):
Government controlled by the wealthy for the wealthy. It is what most so called Western democratic governments these days really are since they are influenced through politicians who are mostly rich celebrities, lawyers and business people (CEO's) who are supported, influenced and financed through campaign contributions and/or bribes by other rich, famous and influential individuals, families, corporations, companies, organizations and institutions.
If 40million poor people managed to take back at least some means of health care from the system, let them you egotistical mother fuckers.

I'm NOT trying bust balls, but why the 'Socialist' argument?
-If you own a house, even if you don't have kids you are going to pay annual tax on it, because it's partially what funds the school system.
-Police and Fire Departments are 'Government' run and nobody complains about that.
And a few others...
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
That's a big one...
The CDC
I give them a 7-8 out of 10
OSHA
Has improved more things in the work place than inconveniences it has created.
NASA
Benefits reach out in countless directions in everyday life
The Military
Not the strategies, but the sum of the combative leverage it represents.
Now, I concede that not every program the big G is involved in is a success. But, the big G has a somewhat established record with health care for some of the citizens already, and I think its time for the rest of the citizens to benefit as well.
If one percent of the money that leaves this country for international aid was held back for citizens of the US, there might not even be a debate.
Just sayin'...

"plutocracy is a pejorative reference to a disproportionate influence the wealthy are said to have on political process in contemporary society: for example Kevin Phillips, author and political strategist to U.S. President Richard Nixon, argues that the United States is a plutocracy in which there is a "fusion of money and government."

I actually agree. For example, Corporations should be held liable for environmental damages for one, and the bailout of private corporations enraged me more than anyone. We don't live in a free market, and if we truly did, the economy would be better, unemployment would be down to nothing, and health care would be affordable.
I could go on and on about how the rich should pay up and how corporations should too.
Higherthanamile, the school system should be privatized. The public school system has failed and should be dismantled.

And of course, don't forget the public option that the Military, Veterans, Elderly and all of government employees have. Yet, for the average American to have a similiar plan, it's socialism. What a yawnfest. The Socialist Ghost has been chasing the Republicans for decades now. And it's just that...a ghost used to scare people. Luckily, it's not working anymore.
And anybody that thinks privatizing schools is a good idea obviously doesn't care about school in the first place. Yeah, that's what we need...corporate schooling.

i seriously cant believe what im seeing and hearing,
the dems are so full of shit and try to contrive everything.
im not saying that everyone is against this, clearly some are for it, but just as clearly its extremely controversial, and so the way the dems are handling this with nancy and her big broad smiles just in the end im pretty sure it will continue to hurt the dems, because people will get bitter and angry at feeling like their voices are not even acknowledged, just like people felt with the gop in power, and all the while pelosi smiles with her nasty ass teeth about how shes gonna stick it in the face of all those people who disagree .
in the end i guess we'll have to see,
but if at the end of the day we dont have a public option, despite all the bs , lies and manipulations from the liberal dem side, id say it would be a miracle and truly show that americans can see thru the fog and bs of politicians.

I don't think that PS has failed completely, but I do think that PS has been failed by cuts in funding.
There are thousands of people who are willing to take the shitty pay and borderline abusive working conditions of public schools and actually seek employment there in order to foster a sense of ability in children so they may be able to rise up and become contributing members of society but...
Public education, which is a very necessary investment, doesn't turn a profit.
And how do think privatizing the educational system would work?
Keep the poor stupid is what it sounds like to me, on all fronts.
I'd much rather leave Afghanistan to the Taliban if it means that no child really is left behind.
War turns a profit though, where do you put the investment?

I don't understand how you and I have conflicting points of view. Unless we disagree that some of the money the US sends to other countries in the way of foreign aid should be held back for healthcare.

We have our socialized schools, police, fire departments, libraries, postal services, etc. and we accept those as standard social policy. In fact people across the whole spectrum would probably cry foul if a president came along and said he was going to dismantle public schools and make them all corporate.
Yet, the instant someone suggests universal health care, the right wingers get their knickers into a twist and go "ZOMG!!! STALINISM!!!!!!! RED TERROR!!!"

Vouchers or corporate schooling beyond what we already have would just be easier for JFQ's Fascist to brainwash more teabog ditzo's. One University has been built since 1980, 10 spanking new prisons. This is your brain on GOPerverts. Of coarse it will pass the Senate, they want re-elected and the people are pissed at lousy health care, waiting in long lines at the ER. Having to fork out their own cash because the CEO of the Insurance is making $100,000.00 and HOUR salaries. This may not be the bill for everyone and could use some tweaking. Taxing those making a million or more? I'dmake it $100,000.00 and up and outlaw Cayman write offs and drug worrier propaganda shelters. I think its time for NO profit on Misery. Living wages and get the fuck out of the Ganjawar business. Nan's pretty Liberal JFQ, I think she forgives your backackward ways...
Imagine, for a second, if all our roads were toll roads (i.e. not paid for by taxes). Imagine if when we drove out of our residential street and onto the main street, we had to insert $0.50 into a box and wait for a barrier to rise. Then once we get on the interstate we have to insert a dollar. Imagine doing this every time we got on the road.
When you currently drive the roads, do you think, "UUUUGGGHHHH!!!!! The strain I'm feeling from the TAX DOLLARS I'm forced to pay to use these roads!"
No. You don't.
You likely roll your eyes and groan when you have to reach into your wallet and grab a dollar when a toll booth for a turnpike is coming up.
Imagine the same sense of freedom with health care as we have with driving on non-toll roads.
One of my favorite scenes in Michael Moore's "SiCKO" sums it up perfectly.

You know I was raised during the big red menace threat, duck and cover like the school desk would protect us from a nuke attack. Threats threats and more fear hurling and you know to this day I have never seen a commie do anything to anyone. Hearing the same bullshit Un-American fear hurling perpetuating the Ganjawar. Lies to get 4000+ kids killed in Iraq or this latest Fascist maneuvering of shitkickers. Nope I've never been harmed by a commie. USSR and China are actually not communalists like Jesus at all. But GOPerverts like their buzzwords more than truth. Pitifuckingfools!

I always thought everyone wanted a "perfect utopia".
So, you'd be against paying for a "perfect utopia"?
We're talking about tax dollars, not our personal wealth. If I'm going to be taxed, I'd rather my tax dollar go to my fellow citizens.
