i have city water, so that means im using chemicals like clorine shit like that in my water.. my question is, could city water kill my plants, 1 plant i have is starting to wilt like i over watered it,when i havent watered it for a wile it starts to perk up again, and when i do acutally water it, it starts to wilt..im useing soil that has fertilizer allready in it..like poting soil i think, (i dunno i ganked a bag of dirt from ,smiths farm store,) the other plants are showing the same signs in there own way.. cept 1 plant, its the only one not affected in anyway.. iv read that if you let your water sit out for 12-24 hrs that alot of the chemicals will burn off..any help would help, thx

yep, chemicals will do a job on your plants, draw out 5 gals of water in a bucket and let it sit for 2 days before you use it,then just dip what you need out of the bucket. We lived in a city that had a lot of additives so i just started setting buckets outside under the roof where a majority of the water ran off when it rained and collected as much as I could each time it rained, you could do the same with snow melt off, just make sure the water is warmed before you use it.

There shouldn't be anything that could harm your plants in the water aside from clorine. It's true about letting the H2O breathe for 24 hours before use or go to a pet store and get some anti-clorine drops. But...it doesn't sound like thats the only problem ie: pH., nutes, soil compaction, is your H2O room temp? You get picture right? More info needed... Hope this helps.

email your city hall and request water treatment data. They will send you a peice of paper with a breakdown of every element found and added to your water. The info is there, all you have to do is ask for it!
If you are really concerned about what's in the water. Perhaps you can use distilled water????$$$$$?????? |
