The plants have clearly overgrown my box, definately will have to start flowering earlier next time. Overall not bad for my first time I think.
Then about a week later ![]() |

Also, you can't really tell in the pictures, but within the last week a lot of leaves started to turn yellow and I noticed that the stems going to the leaves were turning purple. I read in a book I have that this indicates a sulfur deffciency. The plants will probably have to be harvested with in 2 weeks or so because about 50% of the hairs have turned orange-brown, is there anythign I can do now? Any info is greatly appreciated.

They're looking really nice. Come on loads haven't they!
Great job. Love the photo with the glass! Some yellowing towards the end of flowering is to be expected as the plants use up the last remaining stored nutrients. Purpling foliage can also be a genetic thing or even just a reaction to cooler temperatures. SS

Thats a really good result for your first time, it just gets better too
The yellowing leaves, well yes towards the end of flowering the leaves can yellow off a bit but I find that its ussually caused mainly by the plants becomming 'rootbound'...if they are in soil. This tendancy will also vary between strains but for optimum plant health right through you want healthy roots...so have enough room for them....with organics too,if the roots can grow rather than being constrained by small pots...the natural balance of the soil will remain good. As soon as a large root mass fills the pot,it chews what oxygen it can get and bassically sufocates a little the worse it gets. But aswell as that, excessive root mass in small spaces,ph problems and the worst case is the death of the soil itself(micro organisms)...keep the soil alive.Flowering earlier may improve that, or useing larger pots...or, early on, grow them in smaller pots so they become rootbound 'then' rather than later when you pot them up to bigger pots. Organic ferts I hope Nice.![]() |

Pothead,
You're setup looks sweet, nice and organized! And the results as well. I've had the yellow/purpling as well. I've attributed the yellowing to the plant using up the N during flowing but might be thinking a little bit different now. I use 1/2 gallon grow bags and intentionally keep a small root mass. I know some people might be saying "what?. A green thumb mentor of mine swears by this thinking the smaller the root mass the smaller the plant size the less time the plant takes to grow and the more energy focused into this growth making denser buds. Sounded good so I went with that. Now I'm looking toward my web-mentors for help |

damnit, I'm still learning how to use those emoticons.
Now I'm looking toward my web-mentors for help The 1/2 gal bags allow me to pack a bunch into a small area and I can get about 90 watts / sf. The 1/2 gals are also cheap; 100 for $14. The 1 gals are 100 for $30, well now that I think about it twice the size for twice the price, makes sense but seems like a large increase. Depending on the response to my question, which I hopefully will get, I'll probably step up in size. I'd love to show some pics, but until I can learn more about web privacy/security/stealthiness I'm too paranoid to post. Plus computer doctor is beefing up my cpu and I can't do it anyway. Anywho, all's help is appreciated. Once again your setup is admirable (no fear with that emoticon).Share |
