KS cornfeild growing?
hey all, i was just wondering how hard it would be to grow like just 1-2 plants (personal titty and ass bud, seeds from NM grower ) in like a cornfeild somewhere, or wherever. now dont tell me that the soil is no good for growing here, because since its gonna be in one of the over 50 million corn feilds in kansas, its fertile soil. but another thing that gets me is, when should i plant and how fast does the MJ grow compared to the corn? i dont wanna have 2 8 feet tall plants and only like 3 feet of corn, lol. but from what the grower in NM told me is that these plants, depending on the temp. and everything compared to the NM mountains, they should only get about 4-5 feet tall max, maybe smaller if the temp. reaches over 98 for more than a week in a row. but anyways, ill clean this up later when im not so high from this SWEET homegrown newmexican :P

On paper it sounds like an excellent idea. I think corn harvests are in autumn(fall). If you were to plant an early finisher that didn't get to big, I would say it would match corn growth quite well. Just make sure you know when the farmer plans to harvest.
I would want to pick a large field for obscurity and preferably an organic one, I hate to think what the plants would be sprayed with otherwise. Go for it, I'm all for experimentation.

Pull and remove the corn stalks.
Plant up to 10 plants between rows. Sprinkler fed fields generally harvest later. Do 10 fields with well developed clones. Expect a 50% return (5 fields).

what im really worried about is the growth of the corn compared to my plants. and another thing im REALLY worried about is that most of the feilds around here are irrigated. good right? wrong. farmers have to refuel their irrigation pumps sooner or later. so any help is appreciated. we have rivers also but that would mean a VERY long hike since theres nowhere to get down to the river since its all private land. in otherwords, id have to park my car like 10 miles away :/

i think the cornfield idea is bad and good you have a pretty good chance depending on the farmer that they would find it and either destroy or steal it. a lot of kids i know have found little crops of pot that people planted in random places like your thinking so make sure its a spot that no one nows about or will find my friend found like a small 10'x10' spot where pot grows every year, this year we are gonna try to get some or all of it

a cornfield is not a good idea i live in iowa corn grows everywhere but they get sprayed with pesticides and stuff, stuff that could contaminate your smoke, plus as said earlier you dont know when the farmers gonna chop so your plant could get eaten up, and i think the rate of the bud would outgrow the corn if you watered the weed often. you would be better off finding a nice creek to plant by with a lot of sunshine maybe by some cover too and pick the right strain for growing in the heartland, you wanna harvest quick around here cops and helicopters everywhere man is it just me whos paranoid

Yeah the sprays is what you would wish to avoid, god only knows whats in those sprayers.
And the bottom line is that with all that corn, the canna is up against some tough competition so will not grow aswell as it would if it were planted away from the other plants. The main factor there is nutrients and water and because the canna is competing for that, it certainly won't do as well. Now with the water, you could when you plant, add some of those water crystals with the dirt...that will help with any drought type scenario. Also, naturally you would add ferts with your plants. Generally, even with the corn, depending on how close its planted in the rows, it will still let alot of light through even if you don't remove any corn plants. The more corn plants you do remove, the more visible from the air your plants may be. Also, never plant between rows unless the corn is already tall. Because you are useing seedlings, you must plant each seedling far enough apart so that when the 'males' show you won't get any pollination of females, unless you can check them often and remove the males before they produce pollen. The trick with corn growing, is clones. If you have a huge corn field in a remote location, you could plant many hundreds of clones beneath the corn. Better still, if you use an early flowering variety or strain, the canna will be ready well before they harvest the corn. And if you have many hundreds of one or two foot clones, like finding a needle in a haystack. Free the herb |
