Compact Fluro Lights
Im in the process of revamping my veg room and was looking into using CFL's
I know they are very economical in the way they use less wattage compared to the wattage output but never realised they made them with such a large output...the one i saw only uses 85w but outputs 425w and only costs £15.00 Click here to see the light Ultima Store This is a new one on me and looks ideal....anyone else use anything similar ? Im thinking you could quite easily have a few of these hanging. Any thoughts ?? The picture is of a 325watter and warm white, they do cool white as well. Phat ![]()

hey phat, that light does look pretty nice... i use em all over my house to save money on power like you said, and have always wondered if they could b used to grow bud, i stumbled upon this board the other day where a few people are using em, looks like they work decent too, check it out.

cloning
I use 2 of them in a base to base double fixture to clone. my success rates are consistently over 95% by getting the cool lights right on top of the clones and keeping the root temps around 80f. I clone in soil like I mix to grow with and add a little extra perlite for moisture and aeration. 7-9 days and they're ready to transplant up.
I'm sure in the near future we'll see big improvements in compact flouro's. low energy usage too sufficient lumen output= happiness is a warm bong, chong, chong, hoo t,hoot. I'm rick james dealer bleeotch, superfreakBuz

The compact flouros have always intrigued me, and probably a decent solution for small mother rooms/box/clone area....less heat. Mainly aswell, because clones or mothers don't require much intense light to produce the results you want. Where as when budding, thats when the halide or HPS is required, not only for its intensity vs same wattage of CF's..but also the depth at which that light intensity can penetrate. And compact flouro's, may be said to produce the equivelent wattage, with less power, but their intensity is much less the further from the light the plants are. If you used them for budding, and kept a 'canopy' very short, ie half a foot max, you could use CF and they would work well....cool too. Just buzzing away...but yeah, mothers and clones they are the one. Nice results too thcbuzz...sweet.
But even if useing them to bud, I think they could be utilised and I have speculated before, that a system could be set up with those, say use a 20watt CF per plant...housed in a round reflective pod, like a lamp shade, rigged with a single small fan per pod,and irrigation, many small cola's. Have about 20 of them set up in series...20 watts per plant may be enough at that proximity to do the plant well.I have read though, when useing the CF...it is much better if useing them for growth, to mount them horozontilly rather than vertically...the light is certainly more direct/intense that way. But I guess if its for mothers, or clones, maybe more 'difused' light is better and so vertical would be best...well be best for clones any way? But yeah, if you do use them for mums, and you mount em horozontilly...you can easily make good shade out of half a tin can...cut vertically down the middle. Paint the inside of the reflector/can..mount. |
