Where should i grow?
I wanna grow a coupla plants this summer. My balcony is big enough and i usually try to hide em anyway from nosy neighbours (I rent the place, it aint my own).
Question is : Should i plant on my balcony (penthouse) or should i find an outdoor spot on the mountain? balcony pros : loads of sunshine, daily caring for the plants (water, nutrients) balcony cons : stress that nosy neighbours might get on top of the building and see them (doesnt happen very often but sometimes they do get up there for antennas and shit). The plants are really camouflaged though. outdoors pros : not growing on my property, planted in the ground and not in pots, i can put more plants to grow outdoor cons: 1) have to drive to the mountain twice a week to water, 2)plants might get ripped 3) its a bit suspicious driving there twice every week. What do you think yahooka ? Your advice is appreciated ![]() |

As for growing ta your place the paranioa can be stressful but daily care is very nice, paranioa of being ripped at outdoor plits is also crappy. I remeber seeing a thread at overgrow called "Cannabis incognito" were the guy put fake little yellow flowers onto plants and ata glane would raise no suspicion. Have you heard of a strain called ducksfoot? if you could get your hands on that it would be perfect for your situation, looks nothing like Marijuana. http://www.overgrow.com/strainguide/...uck/Ducksfoot/

Unfortunately, ducksfoot needs a fairly long growing season, being mostly sativa. Idk in what area of the world peace seeker is, but unless he has a fairly long growing season, it may not be the ideal strain. I like the idea of the plastic flowers on the balcony, but the huge colas may give you away

I think i ll stick with a couple of plants on the balcony (its nice seeing your babies every day ) and i might try one or two in the forest. Mostly as an experiment. You never know...Given the right growing conditions and root freedom strains will be NL x big bud and Shiva shanti ![]() |

I think if you're prepared to grow on your balcony, you have to accept the reasonable chance of getting busted. Not saying it can't be done with some care, but be careful.
I've always wondered whether it would assist your safety in growing outside, in a garden for example, if you were to buy some brightly-coloured fake plastic fruit and attach them to your plants. Stupid as it sounds, it might make the difference for someone seeing the plants at a distance between thinking they're suspicious-looking, or just some kind of weird fruit plants. A police helicopter, for example, is looking for a sea of green in your backyard. If there are bright red "tomatoes" all through that green, it might throw them off. Or they might still bust you and you'll end up in the paper as the guy caught with all the plastic fruit stuck on his plants.

Haha, way ahead of me. Only trouble with flowers is that the kind of neighbour who'll report you for growing that evil cannabis may not know it doesn't have yellow flowers at any stage.
Something like these would be my plan, clearly fruit but unidentifiable at a distance (big shiny yellow bananas might not work).

I was going to start a patch of grass today, because it's a beautiful day, but it's still too early for Chicago.
Don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Take a trip to the mountains too. Have a great day! William

yeah you re right.
why put all eggs in one basket. i started 3 plants 2 weeks ago. Its still cold outside so i keep em at a window. One of em did stretch a little bit, since it doesnt get direct light, but i dont think it will be a problem. |

Hi peaceseeker, regarding the stretching seedlings, because they are not exposed to wind(I assume), they're stems will not develop and fatten up to support the plant very well, and in conjunction with lower light conditions, stretch stretch. Its much more important when planting outdoors that the seedlings are 'hardened off' and exposed to the elements so they adjust and don't become shocked and weak, and wither upon being released to nature.
I guess if the plant is way weak, stem wise, and you find the plant falling over(lack of light), apply a stake and tie. And 'with or without' that, simulate wind just by touching the plants, stroking them, from side to side and that will make the plant put more energy into the stalk. I guess how that works..brain wave....is when the stem in bent, it must rupture some cells, which trigger(hormones/auxins) more cell growth in that regeon. Hmm, balcony or free? lol....only you know that man. One thing though, as you mention is the preoccupation with the plants perhaps if they are at your residence. Where as if they are in the mountains, a million miles away. But then again, a small collection of bonsai's, all different strains, in pots on the balcony could be kind of charming....5-25? Check local laws regarding quantities of plants for various violations, and or medical exemptions....ie a few mamouths may be percieved as being less than many smalls plants which yielded a fraction of what the big ones did.For drought, dry conditions, look at getting some water crystals and work that into the soil, prior to planting...with your fert. You could even use that in pots if you use the balcony because I bet they would dry out quickly, ie every day or so...in summer. If you can find a remote spot, ie off the beat and track...good soil, full sun...big hole, well dug earth with fert, they will pump. especially if they have had a decent head start indoors, or balcony...and when they are planted, hopefully still some moderate rain fall, so they can get established...cause once they get they're roots down deep(if you dig deep)...they can get at moisture even when above ground its bone dry. But watering them in well at least when planting is gut. |
