Welcome to Sobriety and Recovery
With all the threads we've been seeing popping up around the board, to the effect of "giving up weed for awhile" etc., the mod squad and I decided that it might be a good idea to give the subject its own forum. There are a couple of other reasons for this as well.
YaHooka, though a forum about and dedicated to the subject of drug use, is not a pro-drug platform, per se. It's supposed to be about every aspect of marijuana use (and to a lesser extent, other drugs), including, abstaining from said drug. Quitting marijuana is just as marijuana related as smoking it, in other words, and giving quitting a voice goes a long way toward meeting our goal of being a site devoted to RESPONSIBLE drug use.
Now, this is not to say that we are advocating quitting over use. This is not the point, and it won't be reflected in this forum. This forum will have a place for threads for people who are giving it up for good, or just trying to cut back, or just trying to not smoke until they get drug tested, etc. It's for anyone with any desire to cut back, whether they're having trouble with it or not, and it will be a support forum for those people.
IOW, this will not be the place to give someone shit for espousing a pro-sobriety viewpoint, as so often happens in FFA. Guidance and Support rules apply, so respect is expected.
It is my sincere hope that this forum will serve the greater YaHookan community well, and be a service to those who are looking for support in their efforts to improve their drug habits.

Good for You
I think this is a good thing to have on the site. Many of us have been in a position to have to or want to stop for awhile. Mine happened when I seriously began practicing yoga, then after I went to jail for awhile, I had actually stopped before I went so I tested clean. However, they were then convinced I was selling it so it was worse. I stopped for 4 years and it was good to clear out for awhile. I would like to say, it is easier to stop smoking marijuana than to stop cigarettes or coffee - MUCH EASIER. There are no withdrawals from marijuana. peace.

How wrong you are dude. After smoking daily for more than 10 years i can easilly say there are some major withdrawal symptoms associated with detoxing from THC. Anxiety, depression, insomnia, dizziness, sweats/chills not to mention the psychological symptoms. Benzo's and a glass of red wine, lots of water, exercise and help from my friends and loved ones are how to get through it. I still love vaporizing bud, but ill do it on vacation or for special occassions, not a daily thing anymore. Good luck to all who are able to cut back, look at ones life and take a step in the right direction.

Get help man.... Stop for a month and learn how it feels without THC rushing through your blood. Stop the viscious cycle.

I used to smoke a few times a week to help me sleep. I guess I became fairly dependent on it because I haven't gotten high for a few days and now I have insomnia.

Again that's pretty negative, I want to give pot a rest, but by no means am I ready to claim that I want to stop. I wish i could back to my usual "Once a week" times, but those days are dead and now it's "ok, only 5 times a week" and that's ok because marijuana is not as bad as other things.
Don't think you need help, cuz the person helping you is truly just another person like you who is going to tell you exactly what you think they're going to say. They're not going to shoot you up with "sober juice!" and make you sober and happy to be it all of the sudden, so don't think that anyone but yourself is going to help.
Remember, if you want to stop, then stop. If not, then light the bowl and go with it. If you live in a state that has medical marijuana (or better yet, live in Canada) you could try going to a doctor and describing your problem and maybe they can help, but if you aren't crying everytime you smoke then it can't be as bad as you say.

I used to smoke hardcore to the point of irrationality. I've stopped because I'm on probation, but sometimes I really really miss my bong. don't know if I'll start again, but I don't want to smoke the way I did, doing it in my room at all hours of the night and making my family upset (granted they're catholic, but if I really had control i could've smoked when I wasn't around them) and blowing all my money and getting into horrible debt and not being able to do anything not stoned and not doing anything really because I'm stoned. I don't like any of my old "friends" who have gotten nowhere in the past year I've been sober because all they do is drink and smoke and have the I.Q of cheese anyway and I'm more of an intellectual, but I haven't really made any new friends and I feel like I could've if only I had been able to bond over a bowl or two that might not be the case. Basically, if I go back to smoking, I want to do it responsibly and as a way to enrich my life, not destroy or harm it. Any tips on how people do that are welcome

I started smoking in 1988, got hardcore by 1990 and was mega hardcore till 2000.
Guess that I am just smalltime hardcore these days.
Still not sober and still not recovered.
