Wether or not you believe marijuana is addictive, even if you think this whole day 3 thing is ridiculous, dont say it here. This is guidance and support, not the place for discouraging comments and argument.

... meh, maybe you're right about the way I said it.. consider it tough love then... but I stand by my point... sometimes people need to be bitch slapped back to reality, myself included, plenty of times, and I would want to hear the truth too... and I've thanked people for doing it too... does everything have to be sugar coated for you to take advice?? one of the main things when it comes to growing as a person is getting thicker skin... just imagine when life really breaks it off in this kids ass.. which, I hope not, but I'm pretty sure it will... how will he react to *that* if hes had his hand held his whole life?? he'd crash & burn my friend....

^ the mangs right.
72 hours on opiate withdrawl you are usually puking your guts up for a whole day, non stop dry retching. Your mind just wants to die or kill.

But saying that, I got off the opium and still can't get off the hash.
It's all about really wanting to stop.

One tends to want to stop opiates because one realises that a) this will lead you to death and b) you want to have sex again.

These can be fairly strong reasons to give something up.

With the smoke it's more like a) my life is ok but if I stop I will have more money and
b) maybe I will become more interested in life by stopping.

The problem is that the smoke didn't de-motivate you, you were already de-motivated when you began to smoke. It was your demotivation that let you go astray from the regular path.

I think the idea is just to be less totalitarian about life.

AHAHAHA, this I heard a lot coming from people whose doc's were coke, smack, and alcohol. Some in treatment were surprised my doc was weed.

If it makes you feel better; I did enough meth years back to get hooked, I enjoyed every minute of it (except for the crash) and I found it was easy to kick. The only hard part was getting my meth friends to stop calling. Despite having a low physical dependence, weed is still incapacitating me.

It would be easy to quit weed if I had a lot of activities going on, but in order for me to get that I have to quit first.

I'm not blaming all of my problems on weed. Read my previous post if you don't understand what I'm talking about. It's true that before I started smoking pot I was getting depression. My use made a bad problem worse. I will have other things to deal with after quitting, which is my whole point. Get sober so I can take care of business and stop sitting around. This has nothing to do with heroin being more addictive of a drug.

Day 1 .... here I go again

Thanks verk. Day 2 and I plan to keep this thread alive until I hit 30 days. At that point I will write an assessment and where I will go from there. I plan on starting school in April.

Day 4. Wasn't going to post in here for about a week, but I can't sleep. I've had insomnia for the last 3 nights. My depression and anxiety seem to be better... or worse, I can't tell. Another fucking cold spell has prohibited me from going for walks. I just realized that since I moved back to the cities last October, I have been smoking almost every day, and the period between 2006 to last October I was a very light smoker only getting it from a MOM about once a month, if even that. So my brain wasn't used to the heavy smoking. No wonder I have felt like shit since I moved. Oh well, I'm doing pretty good. This is business, and I am taking care of it. Whatever it takes. I want to suffer, and experience untold pain.

Day 5. Maybe these guys have a point about growing a pair, but they shouldn't be disrupting this thread. Not much sleep last night, for the 3rd or 4th night in a row. Time is going slow.

Dezzy,

This is more about me getting my life back together. I am feeling fine physically, except for the insomnia. If I was dealing with opiate withdrawal I would be utilizing more intensive support than an internet forum. If you want me to admit that marijuana withdrawal is a cakewalk compared to opiate withdrawal I will (I'll take your word for it).

The bottom line is I have depression and anxiety, which will always be an obstacle in my life. Marijuana will only make it harder for me to function in society.

Day 7. On day 14, I am going to start the process of registering for school. I don't know what else to do in the meantime. I am without a car. No cravings whatsoever. My mind is clearing up. My thoughts are becoming easier to control. Paranoia is clearing up. Food is harder to hold down, still. Insomnia persists surpirsingly, but getting a little better. Soon I will start having using dreams, in which I am smoking pot in the dream. Sometimes they are all too real, with my real quit date being in the dream, and saying to myself that date is no longer significant.

You can do it if you want to...it's just will power.

What a coincidence; I dip too. For me it's the opposite. I have no fighting chance at quitting tobacco if I'm smokin green. It lowers my resolve and judgement. I have caved a couple times due to being high and saying fuck it.

Good luck. giving up weed can be difficult but if you truly want to do it you will. I have in the past been pressured to quit by parents to quit never worked I only quit recently two months ago now because I wanted to not because someone told me to. If your bored you can look for the thread I made on why I quit.
So already that puts you at a huge advantage to quit. Schools definitely a good idea, learning is good and you will meet people so you won't be so lonely.
Bummer about the insomnia never really suffered from it. If you feel up to it do some sort of exercise during the day should help you sleep better.
Stay strong

Day 8. Exercise always calms my nerves, but it surprisingly has little effect on my sleep. BTW, I'm also saying "no" to 12 step groups. Fuck 'em for trying to say there is only 1 way, and everyone else is either a dry drunk or in danger of a relapse. I've seen a lot of negativity and unneeded suffering at those meetings. Not to mention I was usually forced to go(commitment), despite their claim that "everyone is voluntary". Besides, I don't need to listen to some schmuck who thinks he is better than me because he is older, rambling about his problems.... I know I am doing that, but no one here has to listen.

AA meetings are packed with people who aren't there on there own volition. I don't see how that can be a help. And I wouldn't try quiting the snuff thing while you're feeling the way you do. I quit chewing in '95 and I can still remember the nasty withdrawal symptoms from that shit.

I would think counting the days would make it that much harder to actually not think about smoking. Why don't you just make the decision and forget about it? If anything, go by weeks or something. Posting here daily in a thread that deals with how hard it is to stop smoking is *gasp* going to make quitting that much harder!

As time goes on I will think about it less, and post less. Even if I was really busy, I would want to talk about it this much in the first couple weeks. I can't wait to start school in April, and pick up some new hobbies to fill my time. My goal is to take this to 30 days. 10 years of marijuana use, without much progress, definitely warrants 30 days of postings. I want to bury this issue once and for all. I have tried the way you speak of before.
