Good luck, Turm. It's not easy, I know. I quit for like a year, then gave in on New Years Eve, and have been struggling with it ever since. Alcohol is an insidious little biotch. It wears down the very will you need to overcome it.

With some support, I think you will do fine. PM me sometime, and let me know how it's going.

Day 5 for me, BTW.

Turm, that's a rough path. I feel for you, I really do. I've struggled with dependency as well. I don't know you, and I never will, however the step you've taken, will change your life for the better. Just keep going and don't look back, that's all you can really do.

The road may not be clear, and you may be a bit of an emotional mess for a little while. But at least your going to be stable on your own again after a little practice. Keep it up. If you ever need to talk/vent feel free to PM, or post. Best wishes!

Also Rev don't get discouraged. They say your an addict for life, but don't drown because of it. Keep swimming, you'll get to shore, I'm sure you know that. Feel free to PM me as well if ever needed/wanted/your bored.

I also realise I can't keep blaming others for how my life is turning out. I know I already knew that, it's just hard to know that It's taking me so long to figure it out.

It's really scary knowing that I'm going to have to face life, instead of trying to escape it.

Scarrrrrr errrr eeee!
It took a lot of courage to do that. I relate, i've struggled with addiction since 1986, been in 7 rehabs, all that.

thing with AA or 12 step programs is they only work if you want them too. They rely but not required on the belief in help from a higher power. often members are not always out for the best interests of others and prey on them. but I have seen them change lives. people who were dead, seriously returned to life. i mean sick people who couldn't go an hour let alone a day without their drug of choice. it can be bad. I was sober, working the program for nearly 3 years before i went back to using.

Living as an addict is not easy. its all in your attitude. change. thats the key. if what you are doing now isn't working. change. has to take place.

I will say, i'm struggling too, with addiction. I love cannabis and it helps but I am addicted to other narcotics and drink alot. I don't do much but its daily and a problem. im not stealing but i got a habit with booze, cannabis and crack thats adds up to more than i can afford each day.

I just don't agree with them. I don't feel I am powerless, yes in a way i am but i'm not. if I wanted to really all it takes is for me to not take that first drink, toke or whatever. its me. i make the decision to put whatever in my body. its when it stops making me feel better is when I see that enough is enough. but this has been lifelong with me, im kind of used to it. im also labeled bi polar. I hate the meds they would give me for free. cannabis helps more. I'm an addict. theres no denying it as classified in accepted terms. but if i can stick with cannabis, it helps me, who am i hurting. I don't have a problem with cannabis, not problems but discomfort and unrest happen when I don't have any.

good luck, there are many ways to get clean. what works for one person may not work for another.

if you do decide to stick with aa. get a sponsor, someone with time. go to a lot of meetings. hang out with the good people. people who are working at getting better. there are so many in those programs who just go cause they have to and are predators looking for newbies to take advantage of.

be well

so thank God for this wonderful place called AA. I'm starting to understand why I am the way I am a little better...I also enjoy listening to other peoles crazy stories, it makes me not feel so alone. I've pretty much been a drunk since I was 15...a raging alcoholic since i was 19...Waking up and thingking..."what the fuck have I done" as soon as the sun hits my eyes....will be so nice to say goodbye to.

You guys have already heard all my crazy stories so you know what I'm saying.

I'm not a bad person, just a really bad drunk.

hence the fact why i drink alone.

no more....prayin.

Hey there,

I hear ya. I've struggled with other drugs too. No crack in a while now. Just ganja highs. However, I do believe in the "all things in moderation" philosophy. The trick is to realize when your moderation is out of control.
