help me out
i've been tryin to take a break from the herb (maybe a week or two) to lower my tolerance for probably 6 months now. i think i might be psychologically addicted to the habit of smoking. when i don't have any, i find myself hitting my pipe for resin all night. sometimes all day. never more than two. my last bowl will be some time tonight.
i'm gonna need some encouragement.

I read books when I dont got pot, it isnt that hard man, go into it with a positive attitude, and you won't fail, dont be a crackhead, you are not addicted to pot, you may think you are, but after the first day or two you'll realize you're not. Good luck man, you can do it.

the above four posts are all you need man, like they say, the first two days IS the hardest. Maybe three depending on the person and how much you regularly smoke. But no more than that.
If you can get past the first three days, you can go as long as you please. Sometimes I find smoking a lot more than normal the night before you stop makes it easier. It's like smoke tonight what you would smoke in the next three days. Hahah it usually works for me anyways, but if it's your last bowl don't even worry about it. It's just something I do to get over it quicker.

Taking a break for lowering your tolerance to a psychoactive substance, just shows how much you 'crave it'
I stopped smoking about three years and ten months now (i smoked for five, was addicted to it for three).
I would suggest you don't quit cold turkey (or at least don't do so while experiencing big changes like moving from home) because the stress may be overwhelming and can cause you depression.
Marihuana is certainly not 'that bad' but it can cause psychological (and physical in some people, including me) addiction if you use it (and sometimes it doesn't starts like that, but at the end is the purpose of it, even if we don't notice) as a means to have a 'crutch' where you can finally find some 'love'.
Some physical withdrawal symptoms that you may or may not experience (And usually start at the end of the first month) are nausea and vomit.
psychological withdrawal symptoms that you may or may not experience:
vivid and/or lucid dreams, depression, anxiety (I did not experienced anxiety however) (though i used to have social anxiety and was very very shy).
Marihuana is (as Erich Fromm says): a relatively inocuous narcotic.
it can however cause (or mimic) paranoid schizophrenia and depression.
Hope you get over you addiction, it's not the end of the world to end a substance whom we are addicted to, it may however involve some changes in the brain chemistry and therefore change your perspective of the world (and drugs).

I will admit I wouldn't smoke weed if I was shy. I used to be. Just goes to show you don't have to give into all your wants. You have to make sacrifices for just about everything you do believe it or not.

anyway as others have said it all mental. after the first few days the cravings rapidly dissipate.

i wish you good luck, and i hope you can find your will power at the bottom of that bag!

I have noticed the less I smoke, the less I want to smoke.
You're going to have to stop buying pot, first of all. Clean you pipe, grinder, jar, whatever you have weed in, and throw out all your old baggies. I can always find smaller and smaller pieces of bud in the bottom of old baggies once I run out.

doesnt sound like your trying very hard.
maybe your just not ready.
but if your making poor choices (against your own judgement) when you drink too much i think you have bigger fish to fry then worrying about smoking doobies.

find something to occupy your time other than looking for weed. tell your friends about it. if they rip on you, tell them why. if they rip on you still, kick em in the face. just tell them you dont want to smoke for awhile. it aint no thang. it really isnt that hard to not smoke. also, try to not do things that you would normally do when you smoke.
and on a side note, erich fromm is wrong about cannabis. it is NOT a narcotic.

You need to quit chasing the dragon as they say, although in this case its more like you need to quit chasing the Twinkie.
Its never gonna be as good as the first time, period. That goes for anything that feels good, whether its the first bong rip or piece of ass, but that doesn't mean that almost as good as the first time is bad.
You gotta smoke that jay or hit that bong once or twice and then get on with it, enjoy the buzz you got, next time might be better or she may just drag her teeth. Don't ever just sit there and stew because you aint as high as you were last time man, thats anxiety creepin' in and wasn't that why you are smoking in the first place?
Relax, enjoy the ride you're getting and control what you're doing, don't let the weed smoke you man.
