Peter Jackson's are the best cheap ones and they are $5.60
Canada had a fuckload of tax on tobacco....It's like 60% of the price
I can get shitty ones on native reserves for $22 a carton......

That's exactly my plan. And it's working too. I just went shopping hit 3 stores and never bought a pack. I wont venture out after dark no matter what so if i can just stay indoors from now til then... i would've made it a day.

so how do you all get rid of the fact that smoking tobacco makes you want to do things with your hands?
I was thinking of wearing a rubberband on my wrist and snapping it really hard when I am craving tobacco.

I will try again.
As soon as I get the idea that now not quitting will be a form of quitting to the concept of quitting.
THEN I will finally quit.

Do you know what I did when I started reading this thread? Took a ciggerette out and started rolling it around in my fingers. I'm going to go smoke it now, and its going to be fucking great.
I gotta finish smoking this pack tonight so I can quit tomorrow. Half a pack in three hours is kind of pushing it...

tomorrow i will be a full 3 weeks nicotine free
i smoked a lot of bud
drank a lot of beer
and orchard mountain berry sparkling cider
smoked more bud,
eating a lot,
put on 2 pounds
but i tell myself thats just water
its hard to drink coffee in the morning (or any other time) without one.
seems like i have a lot of extra free time these day that i could be putting to better use than i have been
some guy in the parkinglot at Farm Supply Hardware comes up to me and says "do you have any spare change? i can sell you a cigarette or two..."
and i was like "heres fity cents! go away! take your cigarettes and get thee behind me!"
walked to the corner store after supper with the 3-1/2 year old for a cherry coke slushy and took the long way home along the train tracks, we both got brainfreeze going "its so cold! ow ow! are you ok? im ok! wow thats cold!"
and during that whole time i hardly thought once about lighting up some premium blended tobacco for a well deserved visit to flavor country.
so think of that, 3 weeks without one smoke. i can look myself in the mirror and say, "youve come a long way, baby!"

i tried a variety of methods to quit...
some bizarre.
1) Switched to herbal tobacco... waste of time, its just not the same at all.
2) Had my 'final' cigarette whilst riding a bike through the French countryside... at the final draw i let the cigarette slip from my lips and left it behind... Unsuccessful.
3) Ran out of money- very effective, until payday.
I don't think I'll ever quit, I'll just cut down ALOT, like take it down to a once a week treat for a few years... then work my way up into retirement... (if I make it to that age, I'm pretty sure I'll be hit by a car).

i thought about it, and the weird thing is I was more convinced to quit smoking because of the actions of tobacco barons and the evil of their industry than I was by the health implications.
I guess its hard to fear cancer etc. at 18, when you're told they'll hit you in a few decades. I don't want to quit completely... but I don't want to smoke a ridiculous amount...
I'll see where I end up...

I quit last April, so its been over a year, and i was once a HEAVY smoker.
I would honestly do at least a carton a week.
Then last year i was driving around smoking a cig, and i had one of those 'moments of clarity' where you see yourself and what you are doing in a completely objective sense.
So i gave my friend my brand new carton and i havent had a smoke since.
The thing i enjoy the most, and what really keeps me going, is the fresh feeling you get when you dont smoke. With any addiction, you tell yourself that you are enjoying it, and that is why you dont quit. However, in reality it is just a burden on your life that kind of anchors you into a 'blah' type mindstate.
